The Duck Thread

I had both toads and peepers. I've been watching them for years.

I also wish the ducks would eat the rabbit that is inside the privacy fence. I'm probably going to have to get a bunch of grandkids together and open the gate to let them chase it out. Stupid things get in when they are tiny enough to fit through the gap in the gate. Then they get too fat to get back out and eat my garden full time.

Now I think you're just joking with us. You don't really want your ducks to eat a rabbit. Just put the thing out. LOL. This reminds me of the movie where a rabbit was driving a guy crazy and he fenced off his garden, and it still got eaten to death. Then he discovered he had fenced the rabbit into the garden.

Jade I can trap you a couple dozen. Come get em. Lol

They dig tunnels, climb my trees and eat the cherries and apples and stuff their evil little jaws full of the chicken and duck food. The birds just back away and watch their food dish
get emptied. Grrr.

Congratulations! I wouldn't have had my hopes up at this point, but I'm very happy for you!

I had asked my husband pretty much every night after he would come back from putting the birds in "is she back?" Last night was actually the first night i didn't ask and as we were already falling asleep with the lights out and everything he was like "oh!! I forgot to tell you, the duck came back!!"

I was all up like " what? ! She is! Omg!!"

It is lined with industrial roofing material.  It is guaranteed for 50 years in the hot sun, so I think we are set :)  We have had the pond for 15 years, and have never had a single leak.

Wow, how cool! I wouldn't have thought of that at all. We have a natural pond but I'm thinking about making another one for a second flock on another side of the property.

My goodness. Can you remind me what kind of ducks you have? We have lots of tiny tree frogs around here but I've never seen our ducks try to eat any of them.

Sorry I didn't see your quote earlier. I have 2 Peking (1 boy 1 girl- she ate the frog), 3 Rouen (2 girls 1 boy) and 2 Khaki Campbell.

Haven't seen them go after frogs, but have seen ours eat lizards... made my OH upset cuz he loves our little blue tailed skinks...
Hopefully your tree frogs stay up in the trees... our Calls love anything they can catch... I saved a blue tailed skink from drowning in a bucket of water only to have our blue pied chase it down and *gulp-gulp*...

I can only imagine what else they have gotten into off in the woods!

One of my Muscovy ducks ate a small copper head once we were looking for worms under rocks and i lifted the rock and there was this around 7" copper head Ruth snatched it up and ate it I frantically called our dogs vet to see if they knew whether Ruth would die they didn't know told me to call the nature center in the city closest to us they couldn't tell me either, Well long story short by the time I got back outside to see if Ruth was still up right she had waddled back to the food bowl and was eating like nothing had ever happened.  No telling how many she has eaten since then.

Oh and  I don't think toads  go in water just frogs.

Don't think they'll eat the chipmunks either. lol

I use to have Preying mantis too  not any more :/

The copper head would scare me to death! I dont like gardner snakes! Thankfully in Michigan we only have a couple poisonous snakes.

That would make me want to do something similar but tell Scott, "Oh, btw, I forgot to tell you I wrecked your truck."

Haha watch out for the white scovy! She is...uh...lets just call her/him a sparkplug. The rest would probably allow a squeeze!

Today was their first time being let out of the temp pen to wander a bit. I was so afraid we would not get them back in but actually it only took about five minutes to get them all in. They are so fun.
Heehee, a sparkplug. I love that. What a wonderful description. Ok, I will watch out for her. And they do look like so much sweet fun.
