We have a male mallard alone here too. Reality is, duck season is going on...

Sad to me, deer season opened back up yesterday and my neighbor who is about half mile past us called and asked if I could hear gun shots she said it sounded like they were right behind her house. If they are they are Trespassing![]()
So another one gone from preds probably. How long has she been missing? Hopefully this time of year things have calmed down considerable and the 2 drakes will be okay together,.. I hope the other female shows up but if not an excuse to get more ducklings sounds good too.
The last time he came to visit was without her tooBut he's been calling for her all day - I think he's lonely. Hershey is 'tolerating' him to the extent that he's allowed to share the run and coop. If he tries to get close to Sugar Hershey chases him away. When I was just out there hauling water I think I may have heard some quacking in reply to him, but she's nowhere to be seen. Not sure if perhaps the neighbors have thrown her in a pen and she can't get out or what. Maybe she'll turn up, fingers crossed.![]()
I hope they all will be safe.. I have all our property posted but as we all know some do not respect that. That's terrible. People like that will ruin it for everyone who respects the laws. Putting people at risk is not ok. All my dogs are decked out in orange and will remain so until hunting season is over. People do drive slowly pasty back yard looking at my ducks though.... More than once this month I've gone out to the deck with my shepherd and made sure some hunters understand that the ducks are mine. Not wild.
Aww, they are adorableHello all! My little crested babies are a month old now, and they are SUPER chubby and fluffy and adorableWe've been raising them in our living room, so they're the friendliest little babies ever. Here's baby Afro, the smallest of the four:

You can feel pin feathers under their down, and they have feathers on their butts... two are slightly older than the others and they have some feathers on their bellies. I've been putting them outside when it's not too cold, but my question is this: will pointing a fan at them help them grow in their feathers more quickly? These babies are getting HUGE and I'm due to have my first human baby on January 4th.... it would be nice to speed the process along
Thanks!!!
