I am getting ready to purchase the supplies that I will need for new ducklings, which I will get in May. I see there are heat lamps in 125 and 250 watt, red and clear. Which is better. They will be in a box when I first get them, for at least a week or so. I also read somewhere that you couldn't use cedar shavings under their feet. Is pine ok? Or is there something better. I'm a newbie at this, don't have a clue what I am doing. But want to give them the best chance I can for them to make it. Trying NOT to do something stupid! LOL
What about the ceramic heater emitter infrared lamp bulb, would they be better? I see them used for reptiles. But not sure about chicks/ducklings.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks everyone. We buried Waffles under a tree today, which was no easy task with the ground frozen solid and snow covered. I'll miss her lots, but I think Potato will miss her more. He has 12 other ducks to socialize with, but he never cared much for them. He just loved his Waffles. I hope he can become ther close with another duck someday.
