The ducks still will not eat the pellets after I chopped it to pieces. Started there bath with vinegar and warm water the boy loves it. My girl looks at it like I lost my mind and took he best friend away.

I hard to grind mine up aliterate and added a little hard boiled egg yolk on top. That did the trick for the 2 runts. The bigger ducklings had no problem with crumbles. I've seem that "look"

yes, as far as i know she eats and drinks....she just looks and sounds like she's in pain when she does it. the other one wasn't doing it this particular night. (and thanks! i had to upload it to youtube first then paste the link here)

Duck drama update. . Rick has his new girl's & are all getting along just fine. This is the first mating season that he will have plenty of girls. Last year all he had was Lauren. He tore up her neck feathers untill they were gone. Lauren is taking over and showing dominance to Jacqueline. Lauren gets on top of Jacqueline like Rick does. They are all trying to get into the small tub, so I'm off to Home Depot to get a larger one. My girlfriend has some & said she got in the cement mixing department. Who knew.

The egg's from the Muscovy's are extra jumbo. .

Curious question: does anyone else's flock divide into sub groups by themselves? My younger ducks all seem to have formed their own group and hang out together. The two mallard girls and the four mutts have no problem mingling with the other seven older ducks (although they're not that much older, only about 6-7 months older), but they always seem to separate again and pal around. They are also my rebels. When I herd the ducks in their pen, the older ones have no problem filing in, but the rebels want to stay outside and put up a fight. They are all mallard or half mallard, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Just an interesting observation

HA! I'm happy to know that I'm not the only one with a rebel and it's always 1 of my Rouen girls. "Nope, not today, mom...come chase me!" Meanwhile, the group that went into the coop are coming out wondering what's up.

Omg yes! I get half the flock in and when I go chase the second half, the first half sees the door open and come out like hey nice of you to leave this door open for us. Drives me nuts lol

We have a G Pyr that looks at me funny.... so I'm not allowed do chase the ducks but YOU can??

Yes, there is. Even with my border collie Loki moving the ducks for me there are interesting events. . like Loki and I arguing as to where the ducks are to be moved, at what speed, whether or not the Pekin counts as a duck (the neurotic Pekin is clearly not a duck per Loki and who's the expert anyway? Right, he is), and who has the better plan. Even when we are on the same page the ducks may decide to try and escape right at the mouth of the pen. . or try to hide behind the pen (how'd they get under the fencing??). .or . . the ducks escape past the human who fell over backwards leaving an escape route open.

Reminds me of the days when we had Heelers.

Spent a little time with my chilly flock yesterday. They are NOT liking the cold and neither am I. All the eggs were frozen and cracked *grumble grumble*

New to thread. I have had some wonderful help from some of you. Does anyone know what breed these ducklings are?? 1 is black and white and 1 is blue and white. I have Pekins and 2 unknown breed blue females.

They sure can be fussy boogers!!! Have you tried pellet veggie soup?? That's how I tricked Big Momma. Pellets, her favorite veggies and treats and add enough warm water to make soupy mush.... Sometimes it works other times they roll their eyes and remind us that we are NOT smarter than them....
