The Duck Thread

This is Nibbles.
She is a Silver Appleyard hen who has decided to sit on out American Buff goose's eggs. The goose is a little put out and has taken to wandering aimlessly. Should I try to have the goose sit on some duck eggs?

I have a question for people: we had gotten the id tags and put on chickens. But one of my chicken had gotten badly hurt. Some how she had moved it up to the knee area. And she had gotten it stuck thru the bone of the knee. We got it out. We put med on her and wrapped the leg with bandages. We tried to put her inside in sick bay. But wants nothing to do with it. She happier with her flock outside. She can still walk jump.has a limp and picks foot up. We also have ones with numbers. My partner doesn't want any of it on birds. So how do we tell difference with less injuries

I use colored Velcro wraps, soft side in, trimmed, a little loose but not enough to slip off the foot.

Since they are adjustable, if they slip off you can put them back on.

The only problem has been that on a handful of occasions, the ducks have gotten the wrap hung up on something they were trying to step over. Exactly how, I cannot say, it's one of those hard to believe moves ducks can make. But no one has suffered injury.

The round one is the one she got hurt on. The green one the birds outgrowing and they can not be adjusted easily . So they need to be cut off animals.

If it was able to get up to the knee it was probably the wrong size. The correct size band wouldn't be able to fit up over the knee like that. You could give plastic bandettes a try, that's what I use to tag my birds and I've never had issues with them.

I am wondering if she had gotten caught on the wire we had installed last week. We had storms and duck coop was flooded . So we had dug a whole on chicken side to drain water. And added fencing on top of that. Could that have pulled legband that far up. How would I fix it. So coops can drain and birds/ ducks don't get hurt
