The Duct Tape Worked - The Egg Hatched!!!!

A couple of weeks ago, I found an egg in the muscovy nest with the shell chipped out of an area about the size of a 50 cent piece. The membrane was not damaged and the chick was still alive. I put a patch of duct tape over it to help keep out dirt and make it a bit stronger and hoped for the best. Well, it hatched last night only a day behind the rest of the hatch. There is a total of 9 of the little cuties in that nest now.

A big plus was that it was a "clean" nest. The duck that was setting on it kept it and herself clean so the egg was clean also. I am sure that was a big factor also.

That's wonderful! I have had to use Wax to seal up cracked eggs many times, they always hatch just fine... we named the first duckling we had to use the method on Crayola

And a great tip to have in a pinch. Wax, yes. But duct tape.

I guess you really can use duct tape to fix anything.

Actually, it's DUCK tape..

Never NEVER use the stuff on DUCTS though.. It's worthless.

You should tell the Duct Tape people and they could pay you for all your positive advertizing for them because if this ever happens to any of us out here we will remember the Duct Tape !!!!
