The DUMBEST thing I've ever heard somebody say about Chickens...READ!

I wonder if there's a thread or something similar on facebook written by city people talking about all the incorrect coments that country people make.

I was about 8-9 I went on an escalator for the first time. After I got over my fear of highs I rid up and down it for probably 10mins. That same day I walked through those circular door things over and over because I'd never seen them before in real life

Yeah, I get this one. We live on an island. Until my kids were 4 or 5 the only planes they'd ever seen were sea planes with floats. The first time we drove past the airport & they saw planes coming in to land without floats there was a near riot 'cause they thought they were all going to crash! Yep. My kids needed to get out & about in that other world more.

The thing I'm consistently astounded by is how many American adults are going around thinking that chickens can only lay eggs if there is a rooster involved. Like literally 50% of the people who find out I have chickens think this.

This is what I hear the most also.. my mother and my mother-in-law both thought this.. my 92 year old neighbor thought this.. and she grew up on a farm! But probably always had roosters. Now, I do not think any of them are dumb.. but it does surprise me that they have been on this planet for so long and this is what they thought!
I was talking with a sweet gal in the store the other day and I mentioned that I have chickens and get my own eggs.. she said “Really? How does that work? Do you have to bring them someplace?” She thought they had to be processed in order for you to eat them cuz she thought that only chicks come out of eggs.. So I explained to her how it works and she was like.. “wow, you learn something new everyday!”
I don’t think that people who ask these questions are stupid necessarily... I think it’s just that they have NEVER thought about it and it was never taught to them...so when it comes up it’s the first time that they are actually thinking about how chickens and eggs and roosters work... all they know is.. you go to the store and buy eggs and eat them!
