Thank goodness somebody does!! I was beginining to worry my little one might be a rooster being that it is feathering in white in some areas. They are only 4 weeks old right now and are supposed to be sexed pullets.Time will I guess! We have, I think, three white/mostly white EE hens. One is completely white and has no beard, one is completely white has a beard (the broody Nelson posted photos of above), one with a bit of gray on her head who is the fluffiest. The two black & white EE we had were both roosters (one was bought as a male, the other was a surprise).
I have solid white females, but no black and white females. I have seen a few postings of black and white females on the EE threads, but by far the majority of b/w EE have turned out to be male.Thank goodness somebody does!! Mine is white and brown.Kinda speckled looking in most areas.I have solid white females, but no black and white females. I have seen a few postings of black and white females on the EE threads, but by far the majority of b/w EE have turned out to be male.
Mine are like that too. They started out really sweet then got crazy skittish when the feathers started coming in.They actually came to sit with me yesterday though when I was free ranging them with the older girls.Flew up and perched on my shoulder.Someone else here told me they should calm down by the time they start laying so just hang in there.I have 4 EE layers...they are about 9wks old they are not very friendly. We got them at the same time as our 6 others (mixed pullets, mainly Rhode Island mix) and all of the others are sweet as can be. When I go to the coop, my 6 mixed birds come running, let me hold them and eat out of my hand. The other 4 are super skittish. Is it the breed or me?? lol
They don't seem splotchy. They are more speckled looking.Still have feathers coming in so I guess I'll be able to tell in a few weeks what color they will be then.If they get "splotchy" like a paint horse that is usually when you have a boy. My yellow sexed pullet is now a red & white cockerel.
