The EE braggers thread!!!

Well she only has 4 toes and no feathered feet! It doesn't really matter to me what she is I like her anyway! :) but I appreciate the help! She's only two months old so I have a while to watch her grow! I'm not one to worry to much about pure breeding! We like mutts at our house. Lol

My hen was just badly pecked and i need help now please to know if i can save her or not, please check emergencies, diseases, and injuries.. Pictures on there..

There are lots of threads on scalping because it's unfortunately common. There are some that do recover. My opinion is if the chicken can function in isolation (eat/drink/poop) then I would use something like Blu-Kote and hope for the best.

The only other one that is close is Salmon Favorelle - but they have 5 toes and I think feathered feet. I don't know if Ideal sells those.
The salmon favorelle are a good breed yes they do have five toes and fuzzy feet but that is natural in them, you can get the favocauna when you mix the favorelle with an aurucana and they look very pretty.

Well had a good day with the EE chickies today. They are still skittish but getting better.I started to worry about introducing them to the older chicks which are 8 weeks old(ee are 4 weeks) so I let them free range together for around 45 minutes together keeping a close eye out for trouble. There were a few pecks but nothing too horrible so I'm hopeful that with a little dedication I can integrate them into the older flock. Some of those will be leaving me anyway since I raised them for a friend.I was wondering if that would be a good time to move theEE's in permanently since the flock dynamics will change somewhat and everyone will be kind of off kilter.I'm fairly sure my dominant hen is going to be the buff. She lays down the law on all the other chicks but she never goes over board, not that I have seen anyway .She is staying, along with the 2 BR's and 3 "red pullets"(from tsc). Also wanted to ask when do the EE usually start getting color to their combs/faces?I bought sexed pullets but I know sometimes mistakes are made.Anything particular at age 4 weeks and up that I should be looking for as a sign that it could be a rooster?

Does anyone know what Mrs. Puff pictured below will look like when she's full grown? She's from Meyer Hatchery and is 5 weeks old in the photo. I'm just curious because these are my first chicks and I haven't seen this color before.
Thanks in advance!

I have never seen that color before either. All my white looking ones have ended up being roosters...

My cockerel was definitely more red in the comb by 6 weeks. Maybe sooner but I don't remember for sure. Now that he is 10 weeks old there is no doubt who is a boy / girl.

I think that when you are moving birds out would be a great time to work on integration. Get all the squabbling done at once.

This happened to 2 of my chicks last year and I put them in their own cage and slathered on neosporin for about a week and along with their food I gave them worms from my vermiculture project. They made it but I was very surprised. One was a roo and he's in the freezer and one was my little girl I call princess because the way it healed looks like she has a crown on her head! A bald ring around her head :) she's very sweet though and it's funny she always stays close to me so she always is first in line for treats
