Then I have been given bad information by many people, an apprentley giving it out too, sorry. But I have done crosses with Buff brahmas, EEs, RIRs, BSLs, GCs, Cohcins, and AMs and every chick has came out with with feathered feet/legs.I don't know if that is necessarily true.
I have hatched from my SilkieXee and she has very heavy feathered legs and feet and she produces some offspring that have non feathered legs.
I also cross my Marans rooster(he has light feathered legs)to Barred Rock hens and most of the offspring are non feather legged
extra eggs thrown in on a hatching egg order. I know shes not a lav split though. Thank you and Hinotori for helping.blueXblack should give you 50% blue and 50% black offspring. Maybe someone else can anwser your other question, because I am not sure. But if she is not from a BBS line, how did you come about her. Did she come from a black and lavender cross?
i only set 6 eggs for NYD hatch soFirst time hatches are always the best. Definatley not a good way to relieve stress though! Congrats on the first hatch. I hope you hatch out some buddies for it.

They don't look anything alike!
I asked on another thread months ago. And just to make sure i understood what they were saying right. I said so if I cross a feather legged bird with a clean legged bird, all the offspring will always have feathered legs and they told me yes. Oh well water under the bridge. Now I know. Thanks for clearing that up.I don't think you are completely mistaken but I think it is along the line of how two brown eyed people can have blue eyed children. If your chickens are both feathered legs they can still be carrying a recessive genes for clean legs. So through genetic lottery if they get a recessive copy for clean legs from both parents then having a feather legged parent doesn't guarantee feathered legs.
