The EE braggers thread!!!

Some chickens have a sort of powder type coating that gives a pinkish look to the eggs, depending on the base or real egg color I'm assuming that same powder type layer can create the lavender type look to it.

I saw something about croad langshans laying a purple egg due to the bloom or coating on the egg.

Do you have pics of the mauve eggs?

The 1st is a white duck egg, the 2nd is from my all white EE and the 3rd (brown) is from my RIR and the 4th is the mauve from the EE that is gold and blue. She's been laying for a month now, so I'm surprised how much smaller her"s is compared to my green egg layers. My 1 son says it's pink and the other says purple, I say mauve-sry the lighting isn't great.

Beautiful eggs and chickens!

Quote: Is that the breed?...I never can remember when it comes up. I have seen the egg photo posted and it looks sorta like an pale plum or orchid purple. very bright, esp when wet. Wouldn't that make for a pretty egg color to have the blue shell and the purple coating on top?....Hmmm. brown, cream, blue ,green, lavender and orchid. A very colorful egg basket indeed.

What will i get putting my blue roo with a black hen. Does the black hen have to be from a b.b.s line to produce good blues and blacks
blueXblack should give you 50% blue and 50% black offspring. Maybe someone else can anwser your other question, because I am not sure. But if she is not from a BBS line, how did you come about her. Did she come from a black and lavender cross?

Don't think it matters really. You'll find out if the black produces good laced offspring that way. The worst would be just nice blacks from the pairing, and could work on the blue offspring from there.

What CCCCCCCCCCChickens said on punnet square cross for color.
