Ugh. Lost my only 'pure' EEr this morning. No discernible reason :/ Just dead in the corner of the pen. Body weight was good, her crop was full, no visible reason. I just don't have the mood to do a necropsy to see if it was anything else.

No, she was just a baby. Hatched September 13. Just as healthy as could be to all appearances. I don't know what happened but man am I bummed. Didn't realize I could get that attached to a chicken.
Just had to show an update to the now teenagers.... They are suppose to all be pullets.
2nd pic is definitely a roo.. Same thing happened to me. All were supposed to be pullets and the one that looks just like the one in your picture started crowing one day.Just had to show an update to the now teenagers.... They are suppose to all be pullets.

I just had my first chicken chicks hatch last night. They're easter egger Cochin mixes. What color would you say these are? Blue and black maybe? Aren't they sweet!
