The EE braggers thread!!!

Ive got a quick color question...This is one of my older EEs (6+ years old and still laying big green eggs regularly!) I love her color and was wondering if her silver feathers would actually be considered blue? Ive looked at some of the pics of blue chickens on here but just cant tell either way and now Im curious!

my only roos are a bantam OEG and a barred rock so I know I dont have a chance of that pretty color coming thru in her offspring, but if that is blue, id know what to look for to have future chickens with that color! Thanks a bunch!

d

Yes, that looks like blue.

I had them under a red light so it kinda of through off their color. There's a lavender, a black and 4 blues. 2 have ee moms, 3 have australorps and one is a Cochin. The dad was a light blue easter egger. I'll post some better pics in a little bit.

ok! Right now I have 5 EE chicks and they are turning completely different colors from when they were chicks. They are 2 weeks and 5 days today and are growing like weeds.

About what colors youll get..someone last year had a link to a color chart.if you mix this and thiz youll get this..but it may have just been about pure breeds. It came out true for my chicks.

I also have experience with the dog world too. have 6 chihuahuas and 4 English Mastiffs .

I also feel like the mix chicken no matter what it looks like ..... is a mutt!
Strange new thinking here.Feels like cheating!

On Long hair chis...
My chis are 3 long hair 3 short. most dogs if you think of it are one look with only very slight variations My mastiffs have 2
One is called OLD English and the other i guess standard. but both on pedigree are still just English Mastiff.
but Chihuahuas....
Chihuahuas come in the most varied forms and color than any other dog.Long leg ,short leg, cobby body flatter nose, longer nose wide or narrow .. bodies ALL can be AKC and can be shown.
Im sure in the background of each feature someplace some other dog..thats how almost all dogs features etc were ever created. but probably its from so far back it isnt listed on the pedigree today.
AKC is REALLY strict on breeding as they had had problems back in the 60s with at least one person I know of who interbred mastiffs with other breeds and was winning shows all over the world with his dog and this males pups.... well know guy in the mastiff world .
.His main Champ .dog was a stud and they found out he had been interbred with acouple other brreds... has supposedly fathered like some ungodly number of pups sperm sent all over the world so many in fact almost impossible to all be from him and then all inter breeding this guy did on his dogs so they kicked him out of AKC.... but AKC couldnt disqualify all the puppies listed from that male ban them and parents from AKC... hundreds even thousands...so let it go .
Some people wont today buy a dog with that line in their pedigree.
AKC became a lot more strict today . More than 5, i think it is, litters a year from one stud in AKC and you have to DNA your male in addition your paperwork better be right on each pup born who they go to, name full address phone, pup coloring and marks description, sex besides puppy litter number , also which died , which you kept, of the number you gave them and each set of parents >Not accurate and your dogs and their pups and you are taken off AKC for good
Some other Clubs however are NOT as strict in any way. In fact some total shams. Scarey.
Well Ill get off my soap box. Its chickens not dogs here
Sorry this is my pet peave ..other so called clubs other than AKC selling less than pure dogs as pure.People not getting their moneys worth is the thing Asking pure bred price for a mutt.
Chickens why its HARD to think of a breed here as NOT a mutt if its got another breed in it!!

I sort of have my own criteria for an EE so FAR.......lays colored eggs or and has the cheek fluff of a Amercauna and Amercauna build but think this will change when i see for sure my half Amercuana half Light Brahma hen who looks most like a LB is laying green eggs which im pretty sure she is... just not positive.... as shes in with the other EE and Amercuana girls. But 4 girls 4 eggs daily.
