If she's got leghorn in her, perhaps she'll be a super producer also - lots of pretty blue eggs, the bird of all or our fantasies! So, it sort of looks like she has no tail feathers; is she rumpless as well!?!
excuse the dirty egg carton, I grabbed one just to show color comparison with the blue, white and brown, good thing I grabbed the messiest carton in the house.
Here are pictures of 2 of my Easter eggers. I have three, possibly four, but the camera battery decided to take a nap after two shots, so the others have to wait. I posted pictures before when they were 9 weeks, but they've passed the 5 month mark and the roosters are especially changed.
Aztec
She just started laying eggs this week, a pretty light aqua color.
Slug aka Butthead
Slug is my alpha roo, but as his nickname suggests he can drive me nuts with his tendency to go into bully mode. However, now that the pullets are coming into lay, he seems to be calming down al little. Also, though it doesn't show well in the picture, his neck hackles and saddle feathers are streaked with dark brown, and he has tan streaks on top of his head. I should try to get a better picture when I post the others.
emjay - the messy egg carton is perfect! gotchicken - that rooster is really cool! it will be really interesting to see his offspring with that perky looking pullett! pitterpatter - grey eggs are the very best!!!! I only have one pullett laying them.
well, breeding pens for the Idaho Royals are almost finished . . .
In the little bit of skimming I've done in this thread, I've noticed that you guys really seem to love your beards and muffs, so this might seem like an odd question.... But how common are muffless, beardless EEs? Would the original Araucana blood in such a bird be so "diluted" that the egg colour won't be very vibrant?
And a second question: What crosses produce these pink egg layers? I'm quite interested in those!
Sorry if these questions have been asked and answered before, but it's a lot of pages to read.
