The EE braggers thread!!!

My sweet (and still nameless) roo made his first attempt at crowing this morning! I can't get over how handsome he is proving to be as his colors continue to come in, most recently his saddle feathers have started to come in and are the most beautiful orange and his head is getting more and more red feathering - can't wait to see what he finally ends up looking like. Here's a pic I snapped today, so wish the sun would have been out because he is even prettier in the sunlight

From above:
wow! He really looks like my roo in the previous post!

Very pretty! I have one I think is a roo, was making this awful crowing type noise this morning. It was like he was calling everyone to breakfast. Lol

Hi everyone. I am new to BYC and to raising chickens. I bought 2 from a farm store that I guess were "marketed" as Ameraucanas. I found out from a kind person in one of the Ameraucana threads yesterday after I posted pics of them that they they are actually EE. Either way I dont care!! I love my girls!

I had no idea I would become a crazy chicken lady! Guess it happens to the best of us. They are 6 weeks old today.

The great thing about EEs that you can get all sorts of feather colors and all mixed up.
I love the surprise that comes with them! They'll always be in my flock, that's for sure.

So cute, they get addicting fast!

Broody #10 of the year a Blue EE will be getting EE eggs tonight. I have no idea what she's sitting on.
I heard EEs going broody is more on the uncommon side.
Do you have it happen often?
I guess it would depend on the heritage, huh?

I would love for my EE to go broody next Spring...

She is my first out of 6 hens. She was hatched last year. I had 2 EE roos over 2 EE hens, 2 Australorp, 2 Brown Leghorns, and a Silver Wyandotte. I'm not sure which hen she came from. I kept 4 of last years pullets and 3 lay green eggs. Out of all those hens only the Australorp have gone broody. My roos have thrown a lot of blue chicks. They were Ameracauna project rejects so they carry strong blue egg genes. I have been getting blue eggs with white spots from someone. I'm going to give her those for sure.
