B&Ws are always tricky...I only see one row of peas on the comb...
Is the comb brighter than the others?
I kind of want to say pullet..based on what I can see.
Any red feathers poking through on the wings or tail?

i haven't seen any red feathers on any part of the chick[/quote]
ok so i took a closer look and it does have red in its feathers. .. I always thought it was dirty!

hmmmm...I'd watch that red..if it falls into a pattern there may be hope, but red splotches nearly always point to a roo.
There have been a few reddish pullets, but they usually seem to have some blue as well.

I'm definitely putting Molted Houdans on my breed wish list - they are adorable! Do they have vaulted skulls like the Show-quality Silkies?
No, I don't believe Houdans have a vault. Vaults can be a pro or a con, depending on preference

I don't plan on showing my Silkie, I got her for (hopefully) her broodiness and as more of a pet for my daughter. So I chose one with a non-vaulted skull, because she was going to come into the pecking order, end up on the bottom, and I didn't want the worry of a brain/skull injury.
Some people think the vault affects the topknot, making it bigger and better for showing.
