The EE braggers thread!!!

Thanks guys. When I saw the comb start to look reddish a few days ago I thought roo too. I'm still hoping for a girl. I will let you guys know in a few more weeks.

Hey everyone. So I posted a pic of a little EE up above. He/she? seems to have the white on them. I read the previous post about male coloring. What coloring combos have all of you come to realize is distinctly male or high possibility?

Two things I've noticed is black and white are usually male. The "splotchy" colors are usually male, especially paired with a mahogany/rusty red color on the shoulder area. Pullets usually maintain a uniform "wild" pattern and have more subtle tones of brown, grey and buff.

I've learned that when it come to the development of combs the sooner the comb begins to form or even start to form the more likely it's a male Easter Egger. I've hatch several batches of my own Easter egger combination and due to the crosses I've made when the birds hatch they display three different comb types. They produce rose, pea, and cushion combs and in all varieties I find that it is the males who develop combs and wattles first. The females sometimes may not develop a comb or wattle right up until they begin to lay. Although i'm no expert this is only what I have observed.

I'm going to try & post a pic of my little EE we just hatched 4 days ago in hopes that someone can tell me gender. I'm new to this so please bear with me. This bird was BORN with an attitude and pecks everyone who comes near. She specifically aims for the eyes...every time! She was the only one (out of the 4 my DH incubated) that hatched. We have 7 three wk Olds that I assumed she felt intimidated by so we went and bought a Lil friend for her (same age). She bullied it so badly that we had to return it. All of our birds are sweet and I am not sure if it is good to keep such an aggressive bird. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Thanks for the response jerryse! I was kinda thinking the same thing. Guess I'll just keep it separated from everyone until I can figure it out. It's dad had similar coloring at that age although he was (and still is) quite loving. Today the little bugger pecked me till I bled! Not used to angry birds :(
