Here are a few of my girls (and one little girl rooster) at 8wks old today.

Chantilly, very friendly always sits on my lap for a little talk. Was yellow as a chick.

Ferra O, named for the many colors of rust. Very inquisitive, but not overly friendly

Yeta, white one; skyfire, looking straight at the camera; Chantilly; and an unnamed

Leppy Q, leopard queen of the chicken world and all she sees! Also a friendly lap chicken.

Nugget, we have 3 that have black bears/muffs, his is the smallest, the other two are called chocolate cheeks. Nugget is also very friendly and must have lap time every time she sees me.

Oreo, my little girl rooster! I have (sigh) resigned myself to the knowledge that little Oreo is in fact a little boy. He is very friendly and also a lap chicken. My husband keeps saying I don't KNOW he is a boy because we are so new to chickens. (so he is maintaining the delusion probably until the first crow!!!! lol )

Skyfire, names b/c of the colors of the sunset, from blue/grey to deep orange.

Skyfire again, not one of the friendliest, but in my opinion one of the most striking.

The elusive Yeti, one of the most antisocial of the group. She seldom leaves the coop, and just got pooped on, she is solid white. Have never seen anyone pick on her at all, so not sure why she is that way.

Your easter eggers are such an absolutely beautiful group. Each one is just prettier and prietter. That is why I just love easter eggers, they are such pretty chickens and yours are about the prettiest I have seen. Did you get them from one of the hatcheries?

What color was Skyfire when she was a chick? i have 3 babies coming from MPC on wed. and can't wait to see what colors they are! All of yours are beautiful, btw! I'd be happy with any of them!

Yes, they are hatchery chicks from Meyers, who I would recomend again. They were very friendly, and I feel I got a good variety of colors which is what I wanted and why I chose EE's.

Skyfire was chipmunky as a young chick, but where the others were brown she was grey, she always stood out as different from all the other chipmunks, her greys are getting more and more powder blue grey, and her rust is deepening on her chest, w/ lighter versions on her back, the pics are good, but don't do her justice, she really is striking.

The other thing I was pleased about w/ Meyers was that almost all have beards/muffs. Which I understand isn't always the case. Chantilly is clean faced right now, don't know if she will get the winter face later (older) or not. Most not only have them, but have large puffy ones and most have them in a different color then the feathers around them making them stand out.

I've gotten my first two eggs from my EEs this week...they are green which is cool, but very small!

Is that normal for EEs or EEs just starting laying? I think it is just one of my three EEs that laid these two eggs, they look absolutely identical and my three birds look different.

I was hoping for something that looks a little bit more like a chicken egg....this is smaller than a bantam egg.

When mine started laying it was more of a medium sized egg. They have increased in size a little, mine have not been laying but about 1 month.

I got my EE's from Meyer, too, and had one that looked just like Oreo. I was in the same boat as you, not wanting to know that "Pat" was a rooster (especially since they were sexed, so he was definitely supposed to be a she). Alas, Pat started crowing about a month ago. He was more than I wanted to keep, but I was able to find him a good home with about 40 hens to call his own.

Kassaundra, your pics are great! It's so fun to look at other EEs. It's like seeing my chickens' cousins! Hee hee! I also love their names. I've named all of mine too, but some of them I interchange because they look too much alike. Mostly, I know which is which. And I agree that there is no problem with picture overload. Love to look at pics.

Here is a picture of Hermione (I like Harry Potter, and have several named for characters from the books. Hermione from the book has very bushy hair, and this chicken does too - even when she was a chick, she was fuzzier than the others) She is my favorite, but she doesn't like her picture taken.

This is Edward Scissor Beak. He has a cross beak (obviously) I have the 2 roosters, and so far they don't fight much. Rueben took after him the other day, though until Edward flew up a tree. I always like Rueben the best because he was prettier, but he's grouchy with the girls too! They aren't really ready for his advances yet, and he bites and chases them all the time. The old broad, from the other flock will chase him when he's doing that and pecks at him. That's comical. She is the "mother hen." Rueben might end up in a pot if he doesn't shape up. Edward, even though he looks weird, is very friendly. But he doesn't crow yet either. His tail feathers are kind of upside down too. They are starting to turn, maybe.
