The EE braggers thread!!!

Ah, makes sense! :) New to chickens -- and birds in general. Yes, she definitely has black feathers coming in so makes sense it's just a pin shaft over the dark ones coming in. Funny how quickly they turn into awkward teens and completely transform from that chipmunk pattern!

And Henny and Arlo are beautiful !! I hope I am as lucky with my lil ones :)

Thank you! I think all EE's are beautiful, so you'll be lucky with whatever pattern they are! :)

Heres what i have started to call "Frankenrooster" part of a trio that were advertised as araucanas in France,(by a policeman)
the 2 hens one brown the other blackish, have nothing in common apart from the lack of rump.
the black one may have short tufts or i maybe too hopeful and could be long muffs with a beard, bushy neck and tiny/no comb,
the brown has no muffs or beard but has a somewhat larger comb, both have im guessing a grey/blue coloured leg, unlike the frankenrooster above, the hens seem to have "white" skin sorta people coloured. all 3 are about 18mth old.

this was the 1st egg layed 1hr after putting then in the coop, the 2nd followed 30min later,
theyve been popping out about 5 a week so far.

frankenchickens, dont look like araucanas, ameraucanas or easter eggers, no idea what they are.

I would say you've got a roo, based on the feathers (tail feathers are already starting to turn down, neck feathers are pointed rather than round like a spoon) and red comb, but here's a thread that might help you identify yourself as we can't necessarily see too well with just photos: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...nderstand-hackle-feathers-and-saddle-feathers

with EEs they say generally hens have an even coloring (not all the same, but the patterns are clear and distinct and throughout), whereas roos get patchy, uneven coloring as they molt which would fit your Squeak's current choppy patterning.

Here are some chick pictures. Pardon the dirty brooder roof. An enabler friend calls up the other day and asks me if I want to ride along with her when she went to pick up some chicks from a local breeder. I just couldn't come home empty handed. The breeder has pure amera roos over amera hens and EE hens. I got two stripy chicks and a pure white one. I'm hoping these turn out to be pullets!

And you can post pictures in a few weeks asking if they are boys or girls. Then, as one of the most reliable "guessers" of EE gender, answer yourself

SO happy to find this thread!

I got one EE in a rare pullet assortment last August from MPC. Meet Sweet Cheeks!

These chickens are SO uncooperative when the camera comes out...

Three and a half weeks ago, I picked up six EE chicks (supposedly pullets) from Aroostook Milling Co.

Given how common EEs are it is weird that they are listed as "rare" when they are anything BUT rare.

They are each quite different. Only one had puffy cheeks at the time. Two are rumpies and another one is starting to show cheek puffs.

Then two weeks ago, I got a double Surprise Package from Cackle. I'm hoping I have at least a dozen EEs and that only a couple of those will be roos! I'm really uncertain what all of those chipmunk-striped chicks will turn out to be.

I'm calling this one Trump!

I think these are all EEs. Please correct me if I'm wrong!

I'm a fairly novice chicken wrangler.

They look like EEs to me!

They do because EEs are not a recognized breed by the APA. They can look like anything.

In England and Australia, the Ameraucana breed is recognized in both rumpless and tailed. Not so in the USA, only tailed. Rumpless would be Araucana assuming it met all the other breed specifications.

With that much comb at 8 weeks, boy.
