Nope. You have to create them each time from the same "parent stock".

I did not mean why the blue birds, why do you consider the autosexing a plus?

To me the autosexing is not a plus but a negative.

Autosexing/sexlinked is a plus at homes where you can't eat the boys

I am probably behind the times because I've just been busy and busier.
I've discovered a sexable EE
The Carolina Blue.
Anyone have any thoughts/?

Since they don't breed true, I would just get a true splash ameracauna and barred rock or Dominique hens and make your own blue (black sex-linked)chicks. Blue can be difficult to see at hatch but you will know once the feathers come in

Given how expensive they are for just hatching eggs on MPC, I'm inclined to agree with this.

It's molting season!!

Oh dear. Poor Gilligan went at it all at once I brought her inside to inspect and make sure she wasn't getting picked on. Nope, at least not physically. She lost her ENTIRE tail overnight but has all new feathers coming out. Psychological warfare is taking its toll though and she's definitely skinnier. Even though I have several feeding locations she's extra skittish and eating less. Giving her cooked meat and eggs as treats in addition to 20% starter feed to get her though this.

Hope to post a picture of her beautiful new look soon!

Any advice?

Nothing you can do. She'll be fine. They do drop weight while molting. Growing those feathers just takes so much energy. Unlimited starter will help get her back to normal in about 2 or 3 weeks.

Why can't some homes eat the boys? There must be a family member or neighbor that could? I am confused, which is my normal condition.

back in June I posted these pics of 2 5wk old pullets. Roo and hen supposed to be RIR's purchased from TSC. Obviously not. Roo looks like RIR but I've found that a lot of breeds look similar and I'm not chicken educated enough to know the finer points of telling them apart. Hen did not look like a RIR as she was light (buff) in color and possibly lacing. Can't quite remember and they belonged to a
neighbor.



They have both matured beautifully . Both have kept there "baby" colors and both are laced. Light one red laced and dark one black laced.
The dark on "Amber" has started laying. First one was an olive drab greyish egg, Second was a very grey egg, third one grey as well.
So Are they easter eggers or oliver eggers or something else?
