The EE braggers thread!!!

My one and only EE laid her first egg just 2 days before she turned 25 weeks old. Skipped a day, then five days straight. I think she might be taking today off as there wasn't anything in the nest box a bit earlier.

I bought 3 chicks the first of April. My Delaware started laying in September. My Cochin in October, and my EE still hasn't started.Am I just over anxious? I'm looking forward to the colored eggs.

The 3 EEs I got from Meyer in early June 2015 started laying at:
23 weeks, 2 days
26 weeks, 1 day
30 weeks, 5 days.

So there is a wide range, though you are outside even my "slowest" EE.

My April EE chicks, all grown up (not laying yet though).

Strawberry Shortcake

Smokey (the Bird).
She just decided to jump up on my shoulder. I have never had a chicken do that before!

ObLaDi and ObLaDa
As they are a mixed breed to begin with, and from a commercial hatchery to boot, what are the chances of getting two almost identical EE's in the same shipment?

I was wracking my brain for weeks trying to come up with names that would reflect their twin-like appearance. It came to me from the radio while I was building their coop / run.

"In a couple of [months], they had built their home sweet home..."

The Cuckoo Marans is doing well too, although she she has turned out to be less 'Cuckoo' than 'Covered With Stars'. So, I named her after the Egyptian goddess of the night sky;

Nut (pronounced 'noot')

Pretty birdies!!!!

We have 1 easter egger, I posted her in this thread earlier but she's grown since! She is the tan with blue feathers on her tail.

We just got a blue wheaten americauna rooster and I'm thinking we are going to start incubating as soon as the ladies start breeding with him. I have 2 australorps, 1 buff orpington, 2 americaunas, 1 salmon favorolle, 1 black sex link, and one easter egger. If I could have nothing but easter eggers, I would they are so unique and fun!

Good looking rooster! It will be very interesting to see what you get.
