The EE braggers thread!!!

http://wikivisually.com/wiki/Delayed_feathering_in_chickens

This article is pretty decent for explaining the different feathering speeds. It's not normal for a male to have a delay like that nor is it impossible for a female to be severely delayed. This chick's condition is evidence that there is an undesirable genetic issue present, not that it's male.

Read through that article. I hadn't done a lot of research on the slow feathering, just knew that some breeds it allowed for wing sexing day old chicks. I definitely didn't know that there were several variations of the gene with most being a undesirable.

My chick doesn't have her muffs in yet, and she is 5 weeks old... Is that normal?

5 weeks is still pretty young. May not get them in for a few more weeks when more feathers come in.

It's possible that it may not have muffs at all as well. Doesn't stop them from laying blue or green eggs. I've had several muffless EEs.

No muffs here, either.

Between the long tail, very fair skin, and lime green legs, I could swear this one is half Leghorn.

7 weeks tomorrow. Still no red combs growing or chicks crowing...

I finally have a picture of the front of the two EE girls I hope, Valerie and Samantha in their reverse molt adolescent stage -if you click on the picture it is larger and clearer
