I have read and been told about the leg color thing many times. For me, it has always worked with any breeds, as long as they don't lay white eggs. Obviously there are no white-legged chickens, though it would be funny if there were.

In my case, so far, all my slate colored legged girls are laying blue eggs. so far, I have 5 girls laying with slate legs, all with blue eggs.
I have 11 girls who will be laying in about a month or so, (as are still too young) but these 11 youngins' have slate legs. So should be interesting to see how many of them are blue egg layers.
I do also have a partridge color hen with a beard and comb, with yellow legs, who lays a blue egg. so it's interesting to know for sure

some examples:

Rhode Island Red and Barred Rock: yellow legs: what color eggs?

Leghorn: yellow legs: what eggs?

Barnevelder: yellow legs: what eggs?

Wheaten Marans: white legs: what eggs?

Orpington: White legs: what eggs?

Black Copper Marans: slate legs

APA Ameraucana: what coloor legs?

I agree 100%, I don't think leg color has anything at all to do with egg color.

well this is the hen, she is not spot on Partridge, but due to EE's not having their own specific color terms, Partridge was the closest to the color to try to describe her. Her feather pattern is not partridge, but, her coloring is very similar, I think, but, I could be way off. haha. it has been known to happen a time or two.

So.....what does a "real" partridge pattern look like?

Nice picture EJMAY. She IS very pretty. Her colors are partridge but I would call the pattering more like double type lacing. I am sure that it does not matter to most of us. EEs are EEs and they are all pretty.

welsummer is the best example of partridge chicken. I do not think double lacing just lacing. The contrast color of the feather shanks confused me
