The EE braggers thread!!!

Does anyone have pictures comparing their EE's from chicks to adults. I am trying to figure out what color EE I will try to get when I go pick them up.

No pictures from me. But I have gotten chicks that look so totally alike when they get here and then when they grow up they are so totally different from each other. So sometimes what you see in one picture that may look like yours it may not look like that when it is grown up.

I think my EE is the prettiest bird I have. I only have 5 (down from 6 because we had to get rid of the one that turned out to be a roo).

This is Honey. She's just over 14 weeks old.

There is another thread that attempted that very thing, posting pics of your EE's as babies then as adults. I tried but the little chipmunks are so hard to distinguish. I have had one batch of 23 and the brown chipmunks basically all look alike as chicks and can be any version of the "typical" brown/red/orange coloring from light to dark. I had three yellows they turned out two whites and a white/apricot, one chipmunk but not brown/tan he turned out black/white and now is "rusting" in hackles, saddles, and across his back. One of the chipmunks that didn't look any different from the rest as a chick has turned out w/ very unique coloring dusty blue/grey and various oranges. If you are picking from a group I would look for subtle differences in the chick coloring, for the most part they aren't going to be glaringly different as chicks from what I've seen, but that is the fun of raising EE's the suprise.

do you have your own bantam ees or did you get eggs?

Well turns out the chick is a Olive Egger X Silver Sebright and perhaps some Silkie blood as well!

I have 1 Dark Blue EE bantam hen...I've hatched eggs from her but they're all standard EE roosters so I kind of quit hatching her eggs out! lol

I want to get some EE bantams at some point...but right now I'm kind of full.

There is a thread already devoted to that topic. It's really fun to see how much they change. There are no hard and fast rules regarding what an EE chick looks like at hatch or even 3 wks and how they eventually end up. It's just part of the fun of having an EE. It's a double surprise...how they'll look and what they'll lay. I personally love that about them. Here's the thread...have fun.
