The EE braggers thread!!!

I have 2 pullets nearly identical to this ones coloring. I thought they looked very much like the Buttercups I had last year. Neither of mine have the poofy cheeks though

That would be a very incorrect Buttercup.

Oh well, thought they were close. What do I know?! I blame everything on Chemo brain!!

Quechuas are simply black breasted red.

Buttercups are from what I'd believe to be (possibly black breasted red with) transverse pencilling, much like found on Campines and Braekels, but there's something else there too, such as the possible duckwing base (BBR) while Campine coloration is Birchen based.

Your birds are beautiful! I'm totally new to this (i.e. still in the planning stages and don't even have a coop yet!) but I've been poking around and am drawn to this look in an EE. They look natural, almost like wild fowl glimpsed in the woods. Kassaundra's birds, especially that Skyfire (I've pretty much been reading the entire thread...), have that look.

May I ask where you got these birds? SteveH described them as "wild partridge" type, which seems apt. Does anyone know if this sort of coloring has a name (that would make them easier to locate)?

Thank you for your help. Beautiful birds, everyone.

Mine came from here: [ http://www.schlechthatchery.com/chickens.htm ]; they are probably the lowest priced hatchery selling EE............... but only offer straight run on them. They were all this color except those showing wild type siver/gold influence; with the exception of a clean faced, rose combed, male that appeared to be a poorly marked silver penciled Wyandotte or cross. He appeared to be a mistake in sorting, and was culled for me by an owl anyway. The pullets have all laid green or blue eggs. My other EEs were purchased from individuals or bred here at home from Ameraucanas.

I have a few w/ patterning like stella, but it isn't my favorite type of patterning, didn't know what to call it or where it came from, but when I split the girls (one half w/ a roo (oreo) the other half not) I was going to put those w/ thay type of patterning in w/o Oreo.

One of my hens, Penny, an Easter Egger hen is going to be turning 5 years old this July. She was born with a cross beak and couldn't eat properly. We had to hand feed her until she learned to eat on her own. She is spoiled now and we give her a deep dish in which to eat out of. I love her to death! Sorry I couldn't upload any pictures of her:(
