Funny she needs a bow. She is like one of those babies you see in the store and you think hmmmm....boy or girl? She is HUGE, bigger than my roos even and I feel bad for her because it seems like none of the roos like her in that "special way". She even bows down in front of them waiting to breed and they walk away. So Sad. Last year she decided to try to mount the other pullets, that really confused me because she lays a beautiful blue egg.

poor girl.. you'll have to tell her she's just big boned.. hahha..
so strange that they are not interested in her because of her size??? it seams in nature that is the other way around. the female is usually larger and little males... wonder why its different here.. that would be a good study for someone in college needing to do a paper on behaviors..

so i posted these in another thread but does anyone have an idea what sex they are from the feather coloring? I suspect at least 2 roos in this bunch. here they are around 3 weeks old...they are 4 weeks not but i have not been able to take new pics.

Beautiful EE Roo Needs a New Home

Our neighbors have called the city and we must re-home our beautiful boy. "Bill" needs to find a new home. He is very affectionate and mostly well behaved. He does tend to be a bit more aggressive with the kids although, he comes to me to be picked up and will even sit in my lap. He is very protective of his flock. He lost most of his tail feathers and almost lost his life protecting the hens from a dog that got into the yard. As you can see, they are starting to grow back.

We are in Vancouver city limits. You can pick him up or I will bring him to you. He was raised as a day old hatchling in our home and he is a very much loved pet. Please no inquiries from anyone wanting chicken dinner.

Well, my EE chicks from the Easter Hatch are 5 weeks old and moved outside yesterday to their new home!

Here's a beautiful cockerel. I so wish he was a hen.

If anyone in Virginia or close by needs a pea-combed EE cockerel, let me know! I only have room for one or two, and I'm keeping Ameraucanas from my next hatch.

This little fellow will also be looking for a home. He has the calmest disposition of all the cockerels. He and the cockerel above have been chest-butting, neck feathers (which I'm sure have a technical name) standing out like a clown's collar!

I think the other three are pullets. I do hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong...

3) Wow, this one must be camera shy. Over 200 pictures yesterday and she's only in two... She's in the back, behind the EE and Wellie roos.

busybeelee- So sorry to hear about the conflict with your neighbors over the crowing of your rooster. I guess to us country dweller's crowing is just part of waking up , I hardly even notice it and I have at least 5 of them sounding off. Maybe you have lazy neighbors who like to sleep half the day away! Or, just like to have anything to complain about. Anyway, hope you can find him a great home , he sure is a fine looking fellow. ChestnutRidge- Beautiful group of youngsters and from what I can see of the last three they do appear to be pullets. Really like the color of the blk/wh. one!

I think your Miss blue has more blue then my skyfire.

do you have a pic of her as a chick.. i would love to see how she progressed into this gorgeous hen... the colors are spectacular..

Sadly I bought her as an adult. Will be sure to take pics of her babies though! (Don't have an incubator, so will have to have a broody)

do EE fly earlier than other breeds? I have three year old australorps ( one knows how to fly) an 9 week old gold laced wy, and a 7 week old EE and I found the EE flying in and out of the pen I had her in to keep her from the big girls.... I let the two little girls out with the big girls yesterday and today and they seem to be doing okay. Is it safe to let them loose in the coop as well and just leave their separate sleeping quarters in there?
