The EE braggers thread!!!

I love their muffs also - they get so very fluffy, makes me wonder how they can see at times.

I love that silly blue roo too. He turns 6 months this March and he is spoiled. He comes to his name, will dance for me and talks up a storm. He still does not have any pullets or hens - much to his dismay

. Working on that but, well it takes time. He is still in the cockerel grow out pen (one of the horse pastures).

I am thinking about crossing him with his sisters (Marion and Blue) plus his mom Chloe and Amelia; but

yay!!! two others have them in the bator too! rustyswoman's hatched last fri . . . here are pics.
Funny about the pure bred Am's I got several out of the first batch, but the ones I gave rustyswoman didn't make it either, and that was just a car ride - no shipping. Just goes to show the power/strength of gentic crosses!
Will be waiting for chick pics!
this is Roy's very first baby:

I think this one came from Red Riding hood:

and these came from Little Baby & Goldilocks

I have five bantam chicks who look just like bared rocks but they are a cross between a prize winning barred rock roo and a prize winning Blue Wheaten hen. But the interesting part of it all is the rooster from the same crossing who has a blue barred coat - had no idea that was possible but he's awesome looking! Fun Fun Fun, good luck with your hatch

Oh, cool project you have going there! I'm not allowed to look at Blue Wheatens anymore, it makes me want to get some.

All your birds are beautiful. I have some EEs. I'll have to get pictures. My roo looks like a brown red male except for his neck ruff which is more buff. I have 2 EE pullets but they are not laying yet and 2 coming from Ideal.

Here is my son watching a chick hatch out of one of the EE eggs from KatyTheChickenLady. Beautiful chick! HUGE chick! It has the prettiest eyeliner around the eyes. Thanks for these eggs!!!!!! We have two more eggs with pips and one other egg rocking and rolling in there.

Is there any way to predict the color of egg an EE will lay??

When I was at the feed store they had some light yellow EE chicks the man mentioned might lay blue eggs, I didnt get any but am kicking myself now.

So what Im asking is if a chick is light yellow are they more likely to lay a blue egg more so than say one of the little rusty or chipmonk colored ones?

Nothing says welcome to the world like a great big sunflower. So far we have two chicks hatched out of Goldy Locks eggs - don't look a thing alike - and Roy's beautiful egg is looking like it will hatch tonight as well. Sigh. I just love being in the middle of a hatch. I'm glad you were successful at hatching out some of the pure Ameraucana eggs - they should be really something to look at when they grow up and it takes those pure Ameraucanas to keep the EEs going.

No. Feather color in the hen (or chick) doesn't give any indication of what color egg she will lay. If she has a pea comb, however, she may be carrying the blue egg gene, but not always.

I just hatched out my first chicks in an incubator - it was a homemade incubator and the chicks were all easter eggers and ameracuanas.

Here are some pics of some of the EEs:
