I wonder how many people were sold EE's with the buyer being told they were actually Ameraucanas, and how many people were seriously surprised to find out they were not indeed Ameraucanas?
I was sold five EE's with the seller telling me they were Ameraucanas. I knew they were not, but I just wanted coloured eggs and a colourful bird. I actually find the EE mutt much more appealing in looks than a pure-bred Ameraucana. So sue me..
I was surprised how close two were to being actual Ameraucanas. The only thing wrong was the legs. I was told this by a poultry judge.

I would think those would be Ameraucanas.... Wheaten is recessive so if you breed those back to a wheaten you will get wheaten chick, same thing with white... I thought most White Ams were recessive white, but your wheatens could be carrying white too that maybe whey it expressed. I would not hesitate to use them in my Am pens.... but I am new to all this, but since they are PURE Ams really I would think it would be ok.... The problem with EE is they don't breed true and most have YELLOW skin and AMs have white skin. Just my 2 cents worth....On the EE vs Ameracauna debate. I currently have 2 chicks that are white Ameracaunas. Technically they will be classified EEs though because they are from a mixed flock. The mother was a gorgeous white Ameracauna and the father was a wheaten Ameracauna. Both the chicks (1 oullet, 1 cockeral) are staying pure white and I did notice both have the slate colored legs Ams are supposed to have as well. I'm curious to see if they will stay pure white or not. Right now they are only 8 weeks old. The cockeral I am definately keeping to be the new rooster of the flock. We just sold both of the adult roosters we had to make room for him.
