The EE braggers thread!!!

Wishing4wings, I did post on that forum about Manny. 100 % guessed pullet which surprised the * outta me...lol
I have figured she/he was a roo all along with a wider comb than my known pullet EE's. Nothing as red or big as OnRays (her roo friend, same age).
Still no other colors with her black and white though. She is tough. Doesn't really look like any other EE I have seen.

Broody update: As of 4pm this afternoon we have 1 baby chick!

I was inside putting up a few groceries and DH came in and said "look what I've got", he was holding a little light chipmunk colored chick. It is from one of the EE eggs. DH had to get the shell unstuck from it's butt! I thought it was so neat that my DH who had been saying nothing would hatch was so excited about showing off what hatched! We've checked a couple more times and found nothing else hatching yet. Mama Hazel is being a good mama to the little chick. DH was talking to the boys about selling the chicks and my ODS told him we weren't selling any of the chicks! They are already in love with the chick.

Hi there,

Just discovered that my cockerel is getting some beautiful golden lacing around his blue/green neck feathers, it's gorgeous! I was curious though, will the rest of his body color change after his 1st molt? He's my Avatar pic.

My EEs are hatching! I wasn't expecting any until tomorrow (heh heh heh- I planned for them to hatch on my birthday

) but I heard peeping - loud peeping- last night as I closed everyone up. My blue Ameraucana went broody and I figured I'd let her test the waters of chicken motherhood. These will be out of a Buff Ameraucana cock and a bluish EE w/gold leakage (that's what I was told). The female side of the equation is made up of two typical wild-type EE hens, a black Ameraucana, and an EE hen I made from a RIR cockerel + White/red EE hen last year. The last EE hen has a single comb (a crunched up S-shaped one) and no beard or muffs and lays brown eggs, but I really like her personality and she's a great 5-a-week layer. She almost looks like a red sex-link but she has white lacing from her mother. I will resist the temptation to view the new chicks until the mama hen lets me. I don't want to interrupt the delicate process of hatching! I will definitely take pictures then. Hooray!

Congratulations!!!!

My only EE out of my six chickens! Her name is Roo and I'm glad to see her beard so full because as a chick she wasn't as puffy cheeked! What would you call her color?

She reminds me of my Chickeel... guess is a common color for EEs... Partridge, or Game? is the color I think

This is the Mother LUCY...I trully loved her and I found her dead in the coop last friday and my heart was broken(no attack nothing healthy the day before) I'm still sad about her death but she left behind some beautiful babies.
Sorry for your loss I have one that looks kinda like your girl only more slender her color is the same as your girl, she still has time to fill out though, She is after all only a couple months old. Your Girl was Gorgeous and i hope my little gal becomes as beautiful as your Hen!
