The EE braggers thread!!!

Am I the only one that thinks pumpkin is a pullet? I don't see roo, she is red all over (pullet thing) no rooish saddle or hackles no big comb..... I don't see a roo.

Am I wrong.... is he crowing?
She said he is only 10 wks to young for hackle and saddle feathers, but looks all boy to me.

He is crowing sadly :/ I was so disappointed when I got to the coop a couple of days ago to find him crowing on one of the shelves ... If you look closely in the third picture of him, you can see the bright yellow tail feathers starting to grow in at the base - typical for roosters I've seen.

I wish he was a pullet

I was so scared when Manny (my black and white) started turning black and white. lol
I posted pics and everyone said pullet, so now I have hope... There is no hope for OnRay, he is
all boy, started crowing at 3 weeks with a big red head...lol

What do you guys think about Manny..Still girly? They are about 7 weeks old now.

Manny was saying, "look at this comb, mom, nothing like OnRays, I get to stay, right?"

I dont know, but he/she sure is pretty ( I think the look says roo but everything else says hen :)...I have 6 babies, they are almost 3 weeks old ... the one roo I ordered is all white the girls are all chipmunks of different shades of brown/blue/grey...Im still holding out hope one of them might be a white and black they are soooo pretty...one already has gold feathers coming in like a newly minted penny...very striking....I hope my boy will get some color...I like white and all, but I like color more...Right now he is at the top of the chick roo's ( I also have a speckled sussex roo at the bottom and some sliver spangled hamburg roo's) the SSH roo's are much more dominate but are also much smaller and the main quarrels are between my EE and them...I am kinda hoping that one of the SSH will be my alpha, as that way the EE would probably be more submissive...I have only ever had alpha roos attack me...the 2nd might poof up but all I have to do is give them the stink eye and they back off....but I have never had a completely nice alpha roo, they always try something at the coop when I'm getting eggs!

and I dont particular want a huge roo coming at me! my EE is already huge and so far quite nice.... I think the SSh are of a more manageable size

My EEs are hatching! I wasn't expecting any until tomorrow (heh heh heh- I planned for them to hatch on my birthday

) but I heard peeping - loud peeping- last night as I closed everyone up. My blue Ameraucana went broody and I figured I'd let her test the waters of chicken motherhood. These will be out of a Buff Ameraucana cock and a bluish EE w/gold leakage (that's what I was told). The female side of the equation is made up of two typical wild-type EE hens, a black Ameraucana, and an EE hen I made from a RIR cockerel + White/red EE hen last year. The last EE hen has a single comb (a crunched up S-shaped one) and no beard or muffs and lays brown eggs, but I really like her personality and she's a great 5-a-week layer. She almost looks like a red sex-link but she has white lacing from her mother. I will resist the temptation to view the new chicks until the mama hen lets me. I don't want to interrupt the delicate process of hatching! I will definitely take pictures then. Hooray!

Wishing4wings, I did post on that forum about Manny. 100 % guessed pullet which surprised the * outta me...lol
I have figured she/he was a roo all along with a wider comb than my known pullet EE's. Nothing as red or big as OnRays (her roo friend, same age).
Still no other colors with her black and white though. She is tough. Doesn't really look like any other EE I have seen.
