The EE braggers thread!!!

Couple of pics of the girls taken tonight.

Skyfire has gone broody

Leppy Q checking to make sure it's safe to come in.

Farrah, posing w/ her cool doo.

Too funny! My EE is named Candy Cane too.

Mine was named after John Candy the actor but Candy Cane stuck.

What are the chances?

Farrah does have a cool doo! Has she always been muff and beardless? I've always wondered what they looked like under there! No wattles at all, but that's quite a "chin"!

No she has a beard, but for some reason my chickens pluck out most of each others beards. It's very frustrating since they all have big beautiful beards. They don't pluck any other feathers on each other just the beards.

There are about 4 girls that after their last molt started growing the neck wings 2, farrah and one other, that looks just like her have the most dramatic, the other two one is just on one side of her neck and the other ones neck wings are barely there

Years ago (like 30

) I had white crested polish as a 4-H project in with my dad's leghorns. My polish chickens were bald because the other chickens would pluck the white top feathers. I think the other chickens were jealous. Needless to say, I didn't do a fair project with chickens.

Right now my newest EE pullet is at the bottom of the pecking order. I hope she gets some self-esteem and not let my other non-bearded chickens pluck her. I don't wnt any more bald or beardless chickens.

I have a question about my EE feathers. I have 5 from a lady that said they were pure Ameraucana.

I live in Puerto Rico And I had been feeding my chicks something from the market... they were not growing and looked so scraggly compared to her chicks. So about 2 weeks ago, we found a guy who sells quality feed and we started to notice a growth spurt like right away.

OK, so now, only the cockerel and one pullet looks scraggly....but I am wondering if it is just a different feather type. the feathers are much softer and curly.

my question is....

Are these normal feathers or are they still lacking nutrition....
sad.png
the other girls from the same flock are bigger And have nice smooth strong looking feathers.

ok, so the soft fuzzy feathered EE are the greyish/blue boy on the far left and the pure white pullet on the far right. Both are on the top. They are both smaller than the others as well.

edited To add that they are 11 1/2 weeks old.

I think most folks don't know the term EE, which probably was the name given by a hatchery at some point. I personally think of them as nonstandard or crossbred Ameraucanas, and this is understood by those unfamiliar with EE, which I rarely encounter away from BYC, except for serious Ameraucana breeders.

Stick with the quality feed and wait until after they molt. Healthy looking feathers should grow in.

I had to rehome 3 roos (2 ee's 1 ss) out of 15 pullets I bought this year

, but they got good homes, yippee! So I found 3 eight week old EE's and just wanted to show them off. They are super cool and have become my favorite breed I think

I had 12 supposed pullets to pick from when I got these girls. The guy selling (I really think so) had no clue which were pullets as he had bought them as all pullet day old chicks. He didn't have the obvious roo's but I am sure from what I have learned this year with my boys and from BYC that he had at least 3 roos. So much for 90% accuracy....lol
I just have to grow them up some more and then the integration later in the summer with the big girls

Ha! Wonderful pics! There is a pitcher for the SF Giants that grew out a big black beard just like Wimpy's (?). She could be his mascot! FEAR THE BEARD! So many folks dressed up in false beards for the games, but now I will always have image of your chicken overlay the human faces! EES at the ball game!! They'd love the peanuts and popcorn too! FEAR THE BEARD!

LOL. My sister showed me pics of the bearded pitcher when he was popular. I forgot about him. My son totally said that today though. He saw her pic and said she looks like she is in disguise with a fake beard...lol Yes she is Wimpy..lol
