No, hardly any rules apply to EE;s. That's what makes them so fun! Like the person said, they are like a box of chocolates....you never know what you are going to get! This is what I was wondering. I can't see the earlobes on my EE, and was wondering if the red ears=brown egg and white ears=white egg "rule" had any relevance with EEs. Maybe red ears would give a green egg and white might have blue? Was wondering because I haven't read anything about it.
That's why I said the books "suggested" that they did. I have heard it both ways.....The color of earlobes have nothing to do with the genetics of egg colors any more than the color of feet or skin.
It will probably be black with some red leakage as an adult.I have an egg hatching at this moment that is a project egg. It is a Brown Leghorn/Ameraucana. I was wondering if any of you had pictures of this cross yet so I can know what to expect as far as chick down and adult bird plumage? Mother was the BL and daddy was a Black Am. Thanks for any help you can give me. If nobody else has this cross then I will be putting up pics asap to document the progress.
