The EE braggers thread!!!

Hello all, can I get an opinion on my roo? I'm pretty sure he is non-conforming for color but if you had to describe him what is he? Blue with red? Just curious since I really don't know what to call his color. Shame he doesn't have a beard, but check out those earlobes! They seem huge! LOL I have two of his sisters, one is white and red and the other is I guess what you'd call blue wheaten. His brother was all dark grey with red on his shoulders and head when I rehomed him.

Fred " the wooster" :)

back to show his "lacing", he has some less defined lacing on his chest too.

Oh yes, I know that color! It's called 'Gorgeous'

Boy, he sure is a looker.

Fred is beyootiful! It would be neat to see him as a mature adult. Probably get more gorgeous. I'm also unsure of what "duckwing" is. Does anyone have a definition that a child could understand?

Also, with white earlobes, is he still carrying the blue egg gene? I've never understood the earlobe connection to EEs and blue eggs. Anyone know about this?

What is this connection you speak of? I have a silkie that has the white earlobes... where did you hear about the earlobe connection to EEs and blue eggs? I'd like to read about it!

Quote: White ear lobes do not have anything to do with blue eggs. I think ear lobe color and have a connection with egg color ie WL have white earlobes. I think blue ear lobes would lean toward blue ears.... I can't remember. Same holds true for legs color, NO connection to egg color.

Interesting! Thank you for clarifying! I'm relatively NEW to chickens.... (we got ours in April, and most days it seems like I learn something new!)

Hi guys have not been here in a while but would like to share some pics of some of my EE;s

This is Candy Cane the proud Dad

Very sweet cockerel. He has some beautiful blue coming in on his neck.

Willow appears/acts like a Wilbur (crossed with RIW)

Wish he was a she but pretty sure its a boy!

Any guesses on sex? I am hoping girl have another almost identical except for tail feathers that I think is a boy.

Thanks everyone for all the great pictures. I would also like to add the mom to the red cockerels & pullets does not have a pea comb but lays a blue/green egg. Would like to add I am located in Dandridge, TN & all the cockerels are looking for a home. I have 5 bigger ones (hatched first of May) & 2-3 of the smaller ones. If you are interested or know someone who would be please pm. Must be local pick up only. Thanks

I have read many books on chickens since I got mine in March....probably at least 10 books. Many of them SUGGESTS that a chicken with white earlobes will have white eggs. Those with red earlobes will have brown eggs. Of course this does not hold true for silkies who have blue earlobes and lay a cream color egg, or other chicken breeds. I have an EE who has mint green earlobes. I don't have eggs from her yet, but I don't think there is a connection there either. Anyway, many breeds DO hold to the earlobe color thing. For ex: RIR, Orphingtons, Leghorns, Barred Rocks, etc. will follow the white/red earlobe idea.

This is what I was wondering. I can't see the earlobes on my EE, and was wondering if the red ears=brown egg and white ears=white egg "rule" had any relevance with EEs. Maybe red ears would give a green egg and white might have blue? Was wondering because I haven't read anything about it.
