I knew Poe was a boy at about a week old, when my 15 year old daughter and I looked at him one day we thought he looked like a raven. So with both of us loving Edgar allen Poe, With thought Poe was a perfect name for him. The other names sort of followed the odd theme of names. Either from a story or the name of an author. And of course Hatter and the others are from Alice and Wonderland.

I let my fiance (BH... = better half) name most of our birds, but I named the new ones... I really didn't want to call Peach "Peach", but, it really does suit her... (I didn't like the names he came up with for Blu B'ree so I just kept calling her the Blue bird, and then BH said, "then that should be her name..." all my pets have had Blueberry as part of their names so that's how that one came about... i like the literary theme.

Below are my two EEs, however they were sold to me as Ameraucanas. One lays a light sky blue egg and the other a light olive green egg.

Pretty! So jealous-- I want olive eggs! Just brown, white, and blue for me :). But I've got a new EE who should be laying any day..woohoo!

Promethus is 6months, right at seven. He was my replacement roo and so far he's a keeper. My first roo (his dad) was an ***** ...

Just checked my records and he is seven months and 5 day....

And DOn't know about everybody but my Chickens are molting and it looks like a feather pillow blew up in my Yard!!!

Hahahaha! one of my postal customers has all kinds of poultry and i thought they had a "processing" day or something.... i've never seen so many feathers on a front lawn! they were molting...

just like a whole feather mattress emptied out over an acre!

That's how my run looks! I keep raking! You would think all of them were molting...but it's just my turkeys. This is my first year with them so I wasn't expecting a feather fallout.

I have three EE's and 2 of them are due to start laying in a few weeks...can't wait to see the color of the eggs :)
The other is a Roo. I would like to in the future hatch some EE's.
Question since this is all new to me.
I see most of you saying that to tell a roo it is due to the red/orange on shoulders, wings etc and then the hens a lot of them are chipmunk looking. These descriptions were what mine looked like as chicks. So, not all EE's come from the same breeds crossing. Is this what to expect with all EE chicks? Would love to know just out of curiosity what mine are. The first and rear of second are two of my EE's.

These are my three EE's...Scrambles; Bambi and Lord Buttercup(she ended up being a he) I hope to keep him and have fertile eggs for next Spring. They are only 18 weeks at the moment. Love the looks of the EE's and looking forward to the first eggs.
