The EE braggers thread!!!

I was told and sold these as Pure Bred Lavender Blue Araucans, but now that Ive looked at them im not too sure- the lady sold them to me for Australian $40.00 for both of them(I live in Australia). Have i paid to much for them??? Sorry they look a bit scruffy, but nothing a little care and new molt wont change. One laid me a Lavender Blue egg yesterday which i was very happy with so thats one point to pure bred and they are a slate color and have slate legs so that another 2 points, just not sure on feathering, it is like down or silkie feathering and the comb is really strange.

Hen 1 is in the nesting box and hen 2 is the one standing up she is much bigger.

I remember reading that they are very different from what we have in the US and that one does look similar to your bird.

Any squatting for you yet?
My girls had ancestors in McMurray. I think they are fifth generation here... Maybe the breeder selected for early eggs.. Not quite sure.. But they all lay - though I'm sure a couple are hiding them somewhere... I've only had one perfect 4 blue egg day from them.. However, that day assured me all 4 were laying prior to week 25

First egg was at 21 weeks.

Funny you should ask... My biggest EE, who is also my most skittish (bottom of the pecking order) EE, Bridget, showed me a major squat just an hour ago for the first time... major. squat... Not, the "OMG THE HOOMAN IS COMING I AM RUNNING AWAY!!!!" I have come to expect from her... A real honest to goodness squat! Of course, when I bent down to "encourage" that behavior... Lil miss Zoe, my leghorn who is #1 in the pecking order and has been laying for a week now, ran right up to her and gave her a fairly mean spirited peck on the back of the head... which naturally put Bridget back into her usual "OMG!!! THERE'S A HOOMAN ON MY BACK!!! GET IT OFF!! GET IT OFF!!" mode, whereafter she ran under the coop and didn't come out again for a while.

They are very similar to the pictured birds...I can't get the link I posted earlier to work, but the pic is very close to the birds shown here.

Definitely not Ameraucana as they would not fit the standard, but very unusual.. I have seen silkie feathered Ameraucanas, though they did not have crests.

x 2, also not Araucana, with those tails.... but they are beautiful...

well they look similar to the photo's on the Australian site to me but regardless here in the states laying hens go for 15-20.00 each anyways. soi if you paid 40.00 for the pair you did not do to bad
