The EE braggers thread!!!

She's adorable!!

Try a rice buddy--- put uncooked rice about 2/3 - 3/4 of the way full in a sock. Knot the end and put in the microwave for a minute or so until warm.
MAKE SURE you mix it and move it around well ["stirring"] after heating it so there are no hot spots. Makes a great little heating pad.
Wow, excellent idea. I could use a woollen glove as she really identifies with a hand.

Here's a picture of some of the babies. You can see little Mr Barred Blue's white spot---he's at the top of the picture next to his BR sisters and a few of the silkies.

Gosh, I wish all others could be sexed like that. Just realised re the glove/rice idea that I have no idea of where to find any kind of warmth glove as we live in fairly constant summer in Qld, Australia.Just trying a GREEN (only colour I had) kitchen glove filled with warm water now. It is the funniest sight but..it has been about 3 minutes with no screaming chicky style! I have raised MANY chicks but never one on its own and I haven even more respect for those broody hens now.
Ok, so I have waited about 10 minutes before sending this and she is STILL happy. Feeding, drinking & pushing her head between "glove" fingers for comfort as she does when I am holding her. Most peaceful 10 minutes so far.

Awww....that's so cute. She's going to be with you for a long long time.... :)

I can brag on my EE named Andromeda.

She laid her first egg Sunday. Blue green, XL and double yolked.
The egg on the left is a Large store egg, the two next to the EE egg are Cubalaya and the other two are Ancona.

Laid her second today, I'm told it is "normal" size so I guess that means Large.

Precious update: Thank you all for wishing her the best.

Day 4 & going well. Drives me crazy as she is so lonely & basically wants my hand next to her always. I am going to try a kitchen glove with warm water filling it as it is REALLY hard to work. Lucky I work from home! I made her pay me back with a few cute poses.

How sweet! I'm glad Precious is doing well and that she gave you a few minutes peace with her warm glove.

We had three chicks under a heat lamp this spring, and one would scream her head off until my son picked her up and put her under his jacket, where she would snuggle up and fall asleep. We finally had to let her cheep it out in the evening, and she went on for 90 long minutes until she finally fell asleep with the other two, but she was cured. (Glad she had a couple of friends.)

Wow! That first egg was a doozy!
Andromeda is very pretty. I have a similar looking girl who is buff Ameraucana crossed with wheaten Ameraucana. I'm anxiously awaiting her first egg.

Back over the summer I promised to take pictures of my EE chicks as they developed. Well, I only took 3 pictures of each one, but you can see how much they've changed. The first two are cockerels and the last one a pullet. Check our her chick brows- like Groucho Marx!

Also, here is one I didn't bother to track from day one since she was just normal black. Black down leads to so few surprises... Anyway, I believe she is one of the EE/Jersey Giant crosses. These are all 4 1/2 months old and she is bigger than either of her cockerel hatchmates. When she hops off of the perch in the morning, you can feel it!

Andromeda looked a lot like your first boy at the same "first week" picture with some grayish on her head.

The second picture of both boys look similar to Persephone with the partridge feather pattern.

And your beautiful girl picked up then blew off some red in her wing feathers! She looks like an Australorp in her baby picture.

No way to guess the outcome from the first picture of each!
