The EE braggers thread!!!

Chantilly, my only beardless EE, she does lay a pretty green egg though.

You have some beautifully colored girls there. As nice as it is to see clear colored/patterned birds of a given breed, I am finding the vast array of colors and patterns in EEs to be a very attractive feature. How each turns out seems to be a surprise, no matter what color they were when they hatched.

I have two beardless EEs. They had beards until one of the Faverolles decided she should pull the beard and muff feathers out of the other bearded/muffed girls. Now one of the Anconas is helping her. Yet the instigator still has HER beard and muff.

So sad today.....a hawk got my favorite EE chick, Emma. Went looking for her when I spotted 8 vultures overhead. Saw the hawk fly away and found Emma's body. Why does it always have to be your favorite???? My youngest EE also died.....I think she died of the stress. She was untouched but dead right by the backdoor. I was letting my babies have playtime....they stay right outside in what I thought was a very protected spot. They usually are on the porch steps or underneath them. So sad!!

So sorry. Yes, it is always the favorites. Glad they were loved.

Very sad about Emma and your other chick. I have been hearing about so many hawk and barn owl attacks lately in areas where it hadn't been a problem all summer. Is late fall typically a time for increased raptor attacks? Migrations maybe, or less natural prey? I'm starting to worry about my chickens being out now.

This past spring we lost several chicks to hawks and cats.

This might be a silly question but I was wondering if you crossed a White EE roo over a black sexlinked hen Would the off spring still have auto sexing or would that be lost through the EE s genes? Also the same question for a white EE roo over a golden comet hen?

The sexlink is not there to breed forward. Black sexlinks are a CROSS and do not breed true. Usually that is made with a Barred Rock hen and a RIR or NH roo. The barred hen passes the barring to all the roos, but not the pullets so that is how they are sexed at hatch.

BTW a SOLID White EE roo if he is dominate white will only produce white chicks with some leakage I would think.
