After my last post, I went and looked it up, and...

...Well, I'm satisfied with having named her Merlin.

For some reason, people always think she's named after the wizard.

(I didn't take the picture of the merlin, found it through Google. ;)

ETA: By 'take', of course, I mean I didn't actually photograph the bird. )

Merlin is so adorable!

Here are my new Olive Egger babies.

1 white chick with black skin and puffy cheeks
1 blue/brown chick with gold face and feathered legs
1 blue chick who keeps trying to escape the brooder :)

So far there are 18 EE crosses in the brooder & 5 more still in the bator!!!
Lots more pea combs than I thought I would get!! All are from EE roo Roadrunner
Here are the 1st 2 that came up to my hand in the brooder. yellows, orange, various dark colors, salt&peppers! Can't wait for everyone to be fluffy & walking all about!!!!

This lil one took the right approach.. didn't bother to stand, just scooted over to my daughter. Walks just fine in the brooder.

One of the salt&pepper chicks. If it's a girl, then it's name should be Mariah since it loves to belt out some crazed notes!!!

Of course there will be more photos of the whole gang & other single shots

Well I just came back from the big show in Stockton CA yesterday - and I saw some pretty EEs there - listed as "Wheaten Ameraucanas" Fortunately the judge recognized that there was something wrong with some of them - the cards only had "Color" marked on them - no placings. One was a beautiful gold colored girl with blue "petals" on each feather - looked almost like one I have here. The other had just the standard EE colors, also similar to one of my girls. However, there were some roosters further down - with the correct Wheaten color (Red/Black) - and GREEN LEGS that did place. Not first.. but they got 3rd. So not all judges know all the points of the AM/EE debate or that yellow skin and green legs is a DQ. To be fair, the judges do have to know points for hundreds of breeds of birds - and that is a big book to read all the way through!
