It will be an EE. And nothing wrong with thatOoo!!EE thread!! I'm getting an EE this March!!! BTW- how can you tell if your 'Ameraucana' is an EE or a true Ameraucana? My feed store says they're selling Ameraucana's but since it's really rare to get a true one, how can you tell if it's a true Ameraucana or an EE? Thanks!! -little farmer

It seems that anything that doesn't fit that standard including color is considered an Easter Egger. Technically even Ameraucana would fit into easter egger breed but not the other way around considering they were bred from them to an arbitrarily defined standard.
My EEs and Faverolles USED to have muffs and beards until the Ancona's AND Favs pecked them all clean. It was cold today. My Easter-eggers used their mighty beards for protection!
Couldn't agree more. I love the look of the Easter Eggers we received from the hatchery, they are beautiful. The only thing I don't like is not knowing if they will lay blue or green eggs. I would really like them to lay a nice color of blue.
Here are two of our new Easter Eggers, far left and far right. The far left coloring is by far my favorite of our entire flock, I just hope she lays blue eggs.

I think my hens will enjoy having a new sister (probably not right at first, but it'll take some time!)
I hatched a lone chick and the mirror did the trick until I got a few babies to go along with it.
You SURE there is a chicken in there?? Looks like a Lion fish.
But Bruce, my little fellow is an EE!!!!! Can't you tell?? hahhahahaIt will be an EE. And nothing wrong with that![]()
As a clarification, there is NO E.E. "Breed" because the APA doesn't recognize them as a breed. You can get an E.E. from breeding two pure Ameraucana if, as you say, the offspring doesn't meet the S.O.P.. A "cull" Ameraucana is an E.E., culls of other breeds are dinner. So, if you come back as a chicken, choose Ameraucana for parentsYou can also get E.E. by crossing a pure Ameraucana with other breeds. AND it would be possible for two E.Es to throw chicks that DO meet the S.O.P. for color and conformation if they have good Ameraucana lineage in them, though the breeding 50% true requirement probably isn't likely.![]()

I wouldn't know, my girls aren't even 8 months old yet! Does she still lay and if so, how often?
My EE that has feather patterning similar to yours lays a green egg. The one with little feather patterning is about the color of the right one's head and lays blue.
Which, as far as I know, means SQUAT!If these don't lay blue, you'll just have to get some more until you get one that does!![]()

I gather that, generally speaking, the opposite is true so make sure you research integrating new chickens into your flock before you start.
Good idea!
Looks like he stuck his beak in an electric outlet!![]()

Quote: Yea. I know. Personally, I would want it to be an EE. It'll be a surprise as to what color egg it'll lay!!!![]()
It has a pea comb and I believe it hatched from a blue green egg. I am just hoping it is a pullet, but this chick stands head held high almost all the time. I am thinking roo.Yea. I know. Personally, I would want it to be an EE. It'll be a surprise as to what color egg it'll lay!!!![]()

Merlin LOOKS like a merlin! Does she sit in trees and dive bomb rodents?[/quote]
Aw, that's too bad! Cubby usually lets the other hens pull her's out, too. :/My EEs and Faverolles USED to have muffs and beards until the Ancona's AND Favs pecked them all clean. It was cold today. My Easter-eggers used their mighty beards for protection!
She and Cubby (who is the same age) laid an egg about once a week over last summer. Neither has laid an egg since they molted last fall, though.I wouldn't know, my girls aren't even 8 months old yet! Does she still lay and if so, how often?Chickie--does she look like an 8 year old hen?
