In this episode, Advanced holding techniques.
Here, Popcorn demonstrates the proper form of a common chicken holding technique known as the "dangle grip" on her EE, Buttons. The dangle grip is best used on the more docile breeds as it has proven ineffective on the more flighty breeds such as the Leghorn. Many attempts were made to hold a leghorn using the dangle grip technique, but this merely resulted in a plethora of chicken scratches up one side of the arm and down the other and the mildly perturbed, mocking squawks from said leghorn.
Be sure to tune in next thursday when we demonstrate more advanced poultry technique.

So there's always good w/ the bad. We had a coyote attack the other night. A pack got my momma scovy, 2 barred rock pullets, & my EE EthelThen my 2 youngest EEs left the coop during the night (thinking my fat scovy broke the coop door) & went into a nesting barrel & passed away in their sleep from the cold such a sad past 2 days. This morning tho my only other EE hen (I have a few other pullets that aren't even close to laying) Her name is Beatrice & she laid her first glorious egg! Right on top - it's almost the same color of my duck eggs - a light pale blue w/ a hint a green in it. I am filling up an incubator with a bunch of eggs - hopefully some will be fertile so I can carry on my lost ladies.
