The EE braggers thread!!!

Here you go I just took these right now. 3weeks and 2days old.

Chick 1 black (i think girl)

chick 2 (I think girl)

chick 3 (BOY)

chick 4 (I think maybe Boy)

Yes I quoted myself lol. I just wanted to give an update. Today they are just over 4 weeks old.

And Chick 1 (black) is still a girl
Chick 2 BOY
Chick 3 BOY
Chick 4 BOY

nums 2,3and 4 all now have 3 rows of peas coming in. Im bummed:( agh

The three rows mean boy? All of my girls with pea combs have three rows. Given- I'm not sure what age they were visible.

I wouldn't be so sure about the 3 rows of peacomb, the girl in my avatar has a 3 row peacomb and she is all girl. In fact I expect she will be laying soon, I heard a rumor that girls with 3 row peacombs are more likely to lay nice blue eggs ;)

3 rows of peas at a very early age means boy. Girls start with a single row of peas and as they age they will develope the 3 rows. Mine are only 4 weeks old so im pretty sure that means boy.

Not always the case. I've hd pullets beat out the boys on three rows of peas.
I do however look at the comb because the roos usually start turning red first. Notice I said ususally.

Thanks Ill keep that in mind:) But in this case Im pretty sure I have 3 boys. They are getting a little bit of darker brownish red on their shoulders also. Fingers crossed Im wrong.

Just to let you know I wasn't saying that you were wrong, and you are probably right abotu yours., it's just not a predictable way of telling for me. You know chicks are all different even within the same breed.

I've got some EEs and EE crosses coming off Thursday.

Cheers an keep on a hatching.

Ooo!! :D EE thread!! I'm getting an EE this March!!! BTW- how can you tell if your 'Ameraucana' is an EE or a true Ameraucana? My feed store says they're selling Ameraucana's but since it's really rare to get a true one, how can you tell if it's a true Ameraucana or an EE? Thanks!! -little farmer

Oh I know you werent commenting about mine speciffically! I only comment back so others would know that maybe I was wrong about the early 3 rows being just boys, but adding in that i think it might be the case for my EE chicks.
