The EE braggers thread!!!

thanks again, everyone. i think EE's it is! and i feel better about the  90% accuracy on the sexing. so, when you go to pick them up from the feed store, are they all boxed up and ready to go or do you get to pick the ones you want, color wise? i hope i get to pick them and not just get stuck with the colors they choose for me. this site is wonderful , by the way, you are all so helpful and it's really cool to find people that are so into their chickens!! thanks again, julie

Some feed stores let you take what you want, others are annoying and the attendants will pick them out. You can tell the workers which ones you want, but they aren't always too happy to do so.

Who cares about the attendants' happiness ? Seriously if you are buying chickens, they are your responsibility, you purchase them, will feed and care for them not a sales person. I don't give my business to jerks.

I love my EE's too...I have had them for years and always will....

I keep 2 blue Ameraucana Roosters in with them and the chicks are gorgeous....more EE's.........

Now I am total confused, lol Bought mine at feed store Americana's was on the name tag when I bought them she lay blue eggs. A friend gave me 3 hens & they will lay blue & pink eggs so I'm guessing they or EE. Really it doesn't matter I love them. My Rooster Cogburn is an Americana
HMMMMMMMMM now I'm confused I didn't know Dads/ Cocks could lay eggs .............. hehehehe

awesome info from everyone, thanks. if i could ask a few more questions, first, are the ee's eggs small ,medium or large? the woman at the feed store said their eggs are very large, but i would rather here from some of you , as i don't always think people who sell from a feed store are as informed as all of you who actually own them. i am getting them for eggs, not meat, so i would like to get large egg layers. also, would i be better off getting all ee's? i am only getting 8 chicks, did everyone start out with more or less? i haven't ordered them yet, and am not  really sure how many to get. i want them for my family of four, and maybe have some for my two young daughters to sell to the neighborhood. also, how many people get their chicks from the feed store and end up with roo's? the woman told me she could give me a 90% chance of getting the sexes right. thanks again everyone, julie

LOL she couldn't get the sexes right if she was told what they were, most of them ppl ( employee's) can barely tell 1 breed from another. let alone the sex... though they might get the Sexlinks right LOL
. I have a few from TSC, 3 BSL which of course where hens and 3 EE's 1 hen of them and my pretty boys, black beard and gray beard..I know original huh hehehe. I did get more EE's from P.P last spring all nice girls but 1 I ordered sexed pullets, so even the hatchery isn't always right. especially on EE's who are notoriously hard to sex till 8 or 10 weeks....... they do lay nice big green to blue or pink eggs, they are considered large breed, and even the roo's are suitable to butcher at 20 weeks, we did 3 last fall almost as big as my BR, and Dels.... so I can't complain. over all the girls lay large eggs, but next to my Delaware, or BSL eggs, they would be medium sized......
some of my girls and some of there eggs, the darkest eggs are from my Dels, and BSL's

A majority of people speak of large to just adverage size of eggs from EEs. It will of course depend on the breeds that were crossed to make them. And if you are ever able to cross your own, you can use a proven larger egg producers to increase the size.

DURR, pretty egg! Mine look about the same!

Showbarnmom, it's technically a very light brown egg. It comes from my girl with the biggest muffs! They're so freaking cute!

I'll try to remember to get a picture later!
