The EE braggers thread!!!

I have a question for those who have incubated your EE eggs, We are having trouble seeing through the green ones to look for development when candling.  We could see through the brown ones at one week, the green ones we still can't see through and we're day 11. Does this mean its not developed or should we give it more time?
Try using a red or green light.

Will do thank you!!! I'll be sure to give the girl who's hatching for me some more for St. Pattys day! She couldn't wait to start them!

Edited to add that the Red light worked! All six eggs are developing!!! Baby EE's on their way!!!

I was wondering if a EE roo was the only way to get green legs in chicks?
My silkie girl just hatched out 3 of my sebright eggs with her 2 eggs haha... and they all have green legs.... I do have an EE roo... but he is huge and my little sebright is so small I did not think it possible?

It is possible for a EE rooster to mate with a sebright. Or even a Silkie. However, any time you mix a bird with dark legs with a bird with yellow skin you will get green legs. The dark is a coating over the skin - and the yellow is a skin color. It's sort of like the green eggs - the eggs are blue, the coating is brown...

That is cool, I did not know... hummm that means that they could be from my old english roo's them... they have orange/pink legs all of my other roos either have blue or green legs

it is easier for a large roo to mate a little hen than the other way around. their vents line up easier, he can just squat over a little hen, but they can be more prone to injure the hen if there is a big size difference
