My how they grow

Hi all.. My son begged me to bring some eggs home to hatch from a mixed flock petting zoo at our feed store about 3 1/2 weeks ago. This little blue striped one hatched from a blue egg, so Im thinking E.E. Im pretty sure the mom is a lavender bantam Ameraucana. Does anyone have any idea from the markings what the father could have been? They had lots of bantams running around.

Omg. New girl laid today! Got her in a trade specifically for a blue/green layer. Knew she wasn't an ameracauna as told (its ok, egg color was what we (my 4ear old and I) were specific about. Think I got duped :-( was told repeatedly she laid a blue egg every other day or so lol hard to find an honest chicken trader here so far :hmm I love the girls regardless, just feel like I lied to my daughter for the last two weeks tho :-/

Big perfect WHITE egg! Doh!

Can they fade throughout laying? I haven't cracked it yet to see if maybe the inside is blueish. I always figured egg color stays the same give or take a small shade diff.
Well at least she's a layer and the guy didn't give me a rooster!

By the looks of it she has red ear lobes so if I was going to bet I would say they are more likely to darken to tinted/cream rather than anything green. Sorry, I know how it feels when you are disappointed and the kids even more so.

Thanx, they're big eggs & edible so she has a home, hope they tint to anything lol my daughter thinks I pulled a switch-a-roo with a grocery store egg. There is no explaining the genes of it to her I tried lol new chicken is still "Ms. Blue" to her.

Another question for y'all. Has anyone had an E.E. with a single comb lay a blue/green egg? I know the rose comb is linked to the blue gene, but was wondering if it was still a possibility.
