I agree, It's a boy! he stands erect chest out. Hens only do that if they are fighting. And that is a sad crow. But all young roo have sad crows. You might get lucky and have a soft sounding adult crow. I have had glass shattering crows and cracked muffled crows. My currant roo has a deep crow. The high pitched ones of the game fowl drive me crazy! I hate going to chicken shows for that every reason. 100 lil roosters crowing at once is maddening. But your guy is pretty.

I completely agree about the high pitched crow of bantam roosters. I have a 17oz serama roo and a 2 lb serama/oegb roo and they're crows don't carry as far as a big roo but they are piercing. There is a BIG roo down the street and I LOVE hearing him crow, and he doesn't do it very often. Unfortunately, nobody is supposed to have roo's and my neighbor is a #@!%, so my EE will have to go :'(

Thank you. the people whom I give the eggs too love them. During the school year, the teachers and staff fight over them. funny to see grown women argue over who's turn it is to get eggs!

You are right. My guy crows alot when he gets into the woods. We have about 20 acres of woods next to their coop/run. I let them out in the day to collect bugs in the yard. It the morning and evening they stay in the 2 acres of mowed grass. He doesn't crow often on the grass. He mostly just clucks when he finds a goody for the girls to come get. About mid day they head to the woods to cool off and rest. That is when I hear him crow. His crow carries well deep and loud. I'm lucky I'm a few acres away from other homes. But everyone around me likes my chickens. I have an almost tick free yard. Their kids come down to play with mine in the yard. We don't play in their yard too many ticks. Also it helps to bribe them with eggs LOL. I have yet to find anyone who turns down my eggs. Every one who owns chickens know the eggs taste better and better for you. Being pretty helps too.

They are both beautiful, but I LOVE the black and white one. How old are they in the picture? I have an 11 wk old I am hoping and praying is a girl, but she is rumpless so I don't have tail feathers to help sex, and the hackle feathers on EE's all seem to be pointed. She was a "sexed" pullet from the feed store, too .......

Thanks! I probably won't end up keeping them though neighbors are too close and if they are as noisy as some people say its not going to work out. They are 2 and a half months old in this pic.Post a pic.If the comb is as red as mine (which started pretty early!) its a boy.I had my suspicions over a month ago when the combs starting growing larger and brighter than my real pullets who are a full month older than the boys I got.
