I have a black AM over an easter egger that lays a really light brown almost cream colored egg. What color would their offspring lay? Or is there really no way of telling since EEs are a basket of suprises?

You will most likely get good color.That little bit of brown can often produce some very nice blue eggs with a hint of green.

Thats what I was hoping for. She is a new layer, but I am going to check fertility, the next few eggs she lays and then if they are fertile, hatch some. She is a blue, buff, brown color, so i was thinking they would have pretty color patterns. I would take a pic of her but she is camera shy. maybe i can sneak up on her sometime lol. Thank you

If you are putting a good black Roo over her all the chicks will be black. Black (E) wins over any other base color. You may get a bit of "leakage" if your EE carries Autosomnal Red or Silver on the boys - otherwise they should all be plain black. It won't be until her children's children that you will have any chances for the Partridge color to come back.

I was wanting a combo of colors, but o well. Black chicks are cute too. And it wont be long before I put him in another pen and s new roo in her pen. Thanks. I would of never thought I would get black offspring all the time.

My little EEs with their mamas. I hope I get all girls out of the 4 of them. The lightest chick is a wheaten ameraucana. Was the only fertile ameraucana egg I had out of the bunch. My ameraucana rooster prefers the EE hens.

I've lost 2 of my EE's so far this summer. I would like to get more this spring. Thinking about Ideal Hatchery. Where do the rest of you get yours with all the different colors, blacks, whites, blues etc.?

I bought mine from a local hatchery. I've gotten six from the same place and none of them have looked at all alike! It's one of the great things about EEs -- lots of variety.

ETA: my original EEs came from Murray McMurray hatchery but since have added a few and now rely on what I have for chicks.
