9 Week olds. Not sure where the feed store gets there chicks. The barring on the feathers a couple have has gotten more pronounced as they have gotten older. I'm kind of liking the peach and white body with the grey head.

I'm jealous! I just love that coloring! I only have one that is like that. Hoping to get more like her next spring when I hatch eggs out. Her name is snowflake

He is the roo I will be using with her. His name is Taco

Taco is a fantastic name. One of mine is named Runny because that is how my 6yo likes his eggs. Next flock I think I should have a Scrambled, Poached, Fried, and Hard-Boiled.

Myers, how old are yours? Ours are 18 weeks, nobody is laying yet, but we have flock drama right now. Four roosters, we bought two and got two RIR from the rainbow pack. We also have an injured bird, girl got pecked on top of her eye, so she is in the infirmary right now. So flock dynamics are off and changing. We know for sure one RIR is a meal for sure, maybe a BO.

Mine are almost 16 weeks. I read on the Murray McMurray website that they could start laying as soon as 17 weeks - guess I better get my nest box construction done! I had 2 roosters in my original flock of black australorps so I gave them away and bought the 3 EE girls at 13 weeks old off Craigslist. Now I should have 5 girls. I don't like the disappointment of ending up with roosters and having to find a home for them! There was a little bit of head-picking when I put the 3 EEs in with the 2 BAs...I think because the EEs are a full month older than the BAs. But that only lasted part of a day and now they all get along. I don't plan on having to go through the pecking order thing again anytime soon since I won't be adding to the flock - it's too stressful!

Your Snowflake looks just like my chicken, Fluff.

I have many chicks from her and she has always been one of my favorites and her daughter Dove is one of my favorites. Fluff lays a green egg.

Did you breed her with a EE roo? What color did the chicks end up being? Post pics if you have any

Yes she's an EE. If you get birds from a feed store you can pretty much guarantee that it's an EE.

She has a very striking head. I see she's clean faced. Most of the EEs have the beard and muffs like the ameraucana. Nothing wrong with that. EEs can be a mix of anything that had a copy of the blue egg gene.

EE legs can be any color. My Privitt hatchery birds were about 50/50 on green and slate.
