Good suggestion to check on the weights Gittx, I weighed everyone today and will continue doing so. She's 2.0 oz, the other five chicks are 2.3-2.7 oz but since they are all different breeds it is tricky to say if she's lighter because she's a smaller breed than them to begin with or because she's stunted. The other breeds are red sexlink, Wyandotte, BcMarans, Welsummer and Australorp. The EE spends a good amount of time pecking at the feeder but it is hard to tell if any of the feed is going into her mouth. She's going to get a fighting chance but she'll have to eat regular food out of a regular feeder like all the other chickens. If she weakens and becomes lethargic, I'll send her to chicken heaven. The crossed beak seems to be getting worse by the day.

No good. All the other chicks gained weight and she lost weight. The beak got worse and she lost the ability to open and close it. She spent last night peeping loudly and trying to eat. Culled her this morning. I'm looking forward to trying again, she really was a fun little chick.

Hate when it doesnt work out, but sounds like you made the right decision. Hope your next experience goes smoother.

I have one. Not sure of I'll get of again though. Out of 2-4 hatches, maybe a total of 60 eggs, I've hatched a or so dozen chicks. But, it works for some

ETA: I don't have the turner and I have a older model of this.

Thanks! This is crash course for me. I don't have a lot of money to spend on an incubator, but getting one that won't hatch eggs anyway is rather dumb.

I have the still air Little Giant incubator. There's a thread tht I highly recommend you read about tips and tricks to using this incubator. It improved my hatch rate.

I don't know about incubators but you keep saying Ameraucana.

This is an EE thread and there IS a difference. From your earlier description of the colors you have, they are not Ameraucana since they are not colors recognized by the SOP. If you are truly looking for Ameraucanas, I suggest the Ameraucana thread instead of this one.

Personally, I wouldn't buy Ameraucana eggs from eBay unless you have VERY good reason to believe that they ARE Ameraucana AND the person selling them is a recognized breeder. Plus, from what I have seen in reading forums, some people take a LOT more care when packing hatching eggs than others.

Thanks for the info. I purchased my chicks from the local farm store, and they were labeled 'Aracana/Ameraucana.' Easter egger was in their description. Keep in mind, this is a farm store in rural Northern Michigan... From what I've gathered (which isn't much, this is my first year with chickens,) the EE isn't a pure breed of chicken, but rather a combination of other breeds to achieve a variety of colors in both the chickens and their eggs. I have absolutely no intentions of showing my chickens, I just love having a multi-colored flock with beards and muffs that lay colored eggs. I was mistaken on the 'breed' name. Fun colors, beards, muffs and colored eggs are my goal. I believe those are what Easter Eggers are?

30 weeks!? She should start laying soon!

I had this happen to me. Mine finally started to lay around 8months old- and only after I added lights to our coop in late winter.

Yes those are EE . Beginners often make the assumption that EE are hybrids . They are really just mutts . So many traits from so many places . Many of these flocks have not had any cross breeding in along time . It is just a constant remixing of the traits from crosses way back.
