The EE braggers thread!!!

Jumping in here to ask a question. Please keep in mind I'm a newbie, but I have an Olive Egger that looks just like Olivia. The father was a Copper Maran and the mother an Ameraucana. She has the single comb. Why would the comb determine the egg color? I'm just curious.

There is a linkage to pea comb and blue eggs . Basically they like to travel together . It is not ironclad . You can have blue eggs with any type comb . If pea comb is in the mix chances are the pea combed birds will inherit the blue egg gene .

Here are a couple of our pullets:
400

Mr. Freeze, our solid blue girl. She's about 13 weeks here. She looks very much like her pure Ameraucana mum, but a darker shade of blue and with larger tail feathers.

Ivy, a red pullet at POL from our first hatch.

We have another red pullet that looks so similar to Ivy, that I can only tell them apart by size/age right now.
The fourth pullet is a beautiful solid black with legs so dark they appear black too. She's a full sister to Cobblepot.

My babies are almost 10 weeks! <3

Our little flock currently consists of two pure ameraucana hens (one blue, one wheaten) and two hatches from breedings of a GLW roo over each of them.
Right now we have four lovely F1 EE hens from those hatches, and too many cockerels.

I wanted to share my favorite boy, and our keeper. He's just about at the 25 week mark, and began crowing a short time ago.

Cobblepot

Lots of pretty chickens! I love my EEs with their muffs and beards, so cute.
