The EE braggers thread!!!

Pics
Here are a couple of my EEs, Lena (left) and Clara (right), Ideal hatchery. They both lay pale blue eggs, not as bright or deep as my Ameraucanas, but definitely more blue than green:

Maggie Mae, EE from McMurray hatchery. Lays brown eggs. But the friendliest little gal I've ever owned.

From my own hatches...

This is Eros (god of love...LOL). He's a blue barred EE. He's a cross from my pure Blue Ameraucana roo x Barred Rock hen. He has his daddy's pea comb and momma's wattles. I've posted his picture previously in another thread.

This is Echo, Eros's sister, same cross. I have 4 hens from that hatch. They have modified pea combs, muffs/beards. They lay green eggs - brown coating over blue shell, looks sorta like olive drab.:

The bluish and blackish chicks in this photo are Eros's babies, hatched about 3 1/2 weeks ago. Their mommas are all EEs in various colors, all are blue or green layers. Can't wait to see how the chicks feather out and what colors they lay.
(The yellow chicks are pure Delawares.)

Cats Critters- OH, that first chicken you posted looks like an EE I got from MPC--- do you happen to have a better picture of it? I am still trying to figure out if it is a hen or roo at 9 weeks. It has that mean kind of look on its face.

Not right now I think I have a picture of her at 9 weeks on my other computer, If I get a chance I'll copy it on to this computer I'm using and upload it. Also it is a she her dad's my EE Rooster Chipmunk (next to last picture) and her mom is a BA.

I love my EEs, infact they're my favorite even though I just got my first egg from one of them yesterday at 27 weeks and 1 day old. They are the most fun to watch, so pretty and they're "like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get." when it comes to their colors and egg colors!
I'd post a picture of my first EE egg but my camera sucks and shows it as a brown egg with speckles

instead of the nice olive with brown speckles

Got my 1st ee egg from one of my 3 today- right smack dab in the middle of a winter storm. Thankfully she decided to lay it in the nest box in the coop. I'm so proud of her. Waiting for the last of the 3 to start. Gave some eggs away to someone i work with and it still floors people that 1. i raise chickens (which i love) and 2. that i get colored eggs. It's amazing that everyday folk have never heard of this.

This is Pigpen(appropriately named cause she loves digging in the mud)... She is in moult here, she's beautifully filled out now but no updated pic yet. She also laid me a couple of blue/green eggs before moulting set in.

A double yolk I got from Liberty last month. Lighting didn't complement the actual color very well

I'm loving all the pics! They are so pretty that there's no way I could pic a favorite!

Here's my 2 girls. The first one is BA (short for Bad ***, which is my 18 year old son's, kind of), and the other is Lucy. They both just started laying recently and have eggs that are blue-green but more on the blue side.

I got two EE's about 3 weeks ago, they were in wretched condition.

Sunshine had a bad eye infection due to a head covered in lice and nits:

That's all gone now and she's looking better every day. I think she's about 15 to 16 weeks now, hard to tell (sorry for the bad picture, she just wanted to jump off that ledge!):

Then there's little Faith... I felt so bad for this tiny naked baby, I had to bring her home or she would have died at that horrible place:

Today she's inside because of a gimpy leg, so happy feathers are starting to come in. Some people say she's a roo because of the developing comb... I estimate her to be between 8 and 10 weeks old now, but in reality I have no idea. Any thoughts?

I guess I have the runts of this thread, LOL!

cthrash1's second picture is absolutely beautiful. The wide tufts on the side of the head. I see alot of EE pics but this trait doesn't seem to be as prominent in all of them. What should I be looking for? Is this a specific breed / sub-breed with the tufts and elegant look?

BTW: I thought I was just going to get a few chicks for the kids to learn to care for, I had no idea how interesting these birds can be.
